Less than 24 hours after losing the starting QB battle to Jacob Eason, Jake Haener intends to transfer. Second QB transfer of the offseason after losing Colson Yankoff to Chip Kelly.

And a fun "transfer carousel"...as a result of Jake Fromm winning the starting job after Jacob Eason's injury in 2017, the following players have transferred. The transfer portal system is crazy:
5* Jacob Eason - Georgia -> Washington
5* Justin Fields - Georgia -> Ohio State
4* Tate Martell - Ohio State -> Miami (where he ironically lost the starting battle!)
4* Matthew Baldwin - Ohio State -> TCU
4* Colson Yankoff - Washington -> UCLA
3* Jake Haener - Washington -> TBD

Haener's mom is a local news anchor. Maybe Cal? Maybe CCSF?

If you thought us Millennials were bad, just wait now that Generation Z is beginning to populate colleges; they're even less likely to be willing to take one for the team and be somebody else's backup.

I don't really think of this as a generational issue. Guys have been transferring in search of playing time for many years. We've certainly seen it here at Stanford -- Jesse Freitas, Babe Laufenberg, Grayson Rogers, Tim Carey, etc.

Laufenberg just lost his 21 year old son. To those of us who have lost children there is nothing worse.
