Who is the next QB recruit? - OutsiderFan - 10-02-2019

Cal is homing in on Miller Moss, who doesn't have a Stanford offer, but is visiting Stanford this week.

Apparently Stanford has offered #1 Dual QB Caleb Williams, but 247 is heavily predicting him to Georgia.

If you are recruiting a "dual threat" QB, does that mean you are offering another?  Miller Moss is a "pro style" QB who would seem to be a backup to Williams, but what if he isn't offered by the time he commits to Cal?

Does anyone know Stanford's plan for a 2021 QB since it appears there again won't be one in 2020?  I realize Tanner McKee comes back next year as effectively a 2020, but I'm more thinking of what's after West and McKee, when Costello is gone.

We have not offered a '21 QB yet. Williams and Moss are high on the list. There are a couple others. "Dual Threat" means "can run"...has nothing to do with offering multiple.

Moss' mom is a Stanford alum.

Yes, Miller's mom was a classmate of mine, but being a Stanford legacy sure doesn't seem to help QB recruits get Stanford offers (Butterfield, Stenstrom, McCaffrey)

What I meant was if Stanford is offering a dual threat QB, does this mean Stanford wants a dual threat QB, period, and will be offering more dual threat types form here on out?

It does seem Shaw is slowly changing his recruiting to change the offense. More emphasis on WRs already, and now a dual threat QB offer. It would seem logical that if you offered a dual threat QB, that means you want one period, but who knows.

McKee was tabled as a "pro style" but anyone who saw his highlights knows McKee can run really well. Even Mills is pretty mobile for that matter.

Moss' mother apparently has been re-tweeting and liking a lot of Cal stuff, from what I have gathered, FWIW.

No, but neither does being ranked below Stanford's QB target/signee that class.

Butterfield 4*, McKee borderline 5* (admittedly a bit of a stretch as McKee is coming back from a mission, but it's pretty clear we're not signing another QB)
Stenstrom 3*, West 4*
McCaffrey 4*, Mills 5* (Ed was PISSED)

Moss is very highly rated, as are the other couple guys thought to be on the list.

I do think that mobility is the norm in the college game now. Not much of an idea when a QB switches from "pro" to "dual-threat," tbh. And reiterating: Williams HAS NOT BEEN OFFERED.

Moss' mom has also liked some Stanford stuff in the past 24 hours.

Very possible :) one of the two has work to do

Wow, Moss' father is Eric Owen Moss, one of the most creative and noted architects in the LA area. I have toured his studio.

Moss posted his final 7 two months ago. Stanford was not on the list.

Hard to be on the list when you haven't offered yet.

RE: Who is the next QB recruit? - OutsiderFan - 10-02-2019

I've seen recruits put a Stanford hat on the table at announcement ceremonies, without ever having been offered. I've also seen Stanford listed as a finalist for recruits that never had or would ever get Stanford offers.

Bob, what is very possible? And if only one has "work to do" why not offer the one that doesn't?

RE: Who is the next QB recruit? - BobK - 10-02-2019

Great question of course. Ok my thought is young Richardson will walk on. He’s passed for about 750 yards last two games. And that’ll be it.

Sure, for '20. But we're talking about '21 here. OF has a very valid question, to which we don't quite know the answer yet.

Moss has a Fabian Forte hair style. No way should he be recruited. Look it up you millennials.

For what it’s worth TOS has Caleb Williams with a Stanford offer.

not sure on the offer.  word is work to do.
