Reunion Weekend roll call - fullmetal - 10-23-2019

No one's started this thread, so I might be one of few, but let's hang out at Zot's or a morning tailgate :)

Zott's will be tough to do. It doesn't open until 1130 and the game starts at 1230.

On my way.  Posting here from Jet Blue Flight 1833.

I'll be there too. If anyone is going to Zott's tomorrow evening, my friend Mary (class of 83 same as me) and her band the Salty Licks are playing from 7 to 9. We might make it there after golf at Sharon Heights.

You will be happy to know that next will start while I am flying between Istanbul and Addis Ababa,so hopefully the game will go more like the Washington game, when I was in route back to SFO from Munich when next started.

I'll be around the '09 tailgate with my wife and son, and we'll be at the game, hopefully at least through halftime but we'll see how he does.

You gonna play Stanford? Highly recommend if you haven't in the last 2-3 years. New bunkers really make a difference.

None of my friends are members anymore. We are playing Sharon Heights because we can get a tee time.

A membership in the Stanford Alumni Association gives one access to the golf course.  Many years ago I got a lifetime membership, but not before I called to confirm that such access would be provided as long as the golf course were operating.  It is a pretty reasonable deal and really offers fairly easy access.  The last time I played there, the rate was $125, a great rate in my opinion for such an excellent course.  There were a few, limited, restrictions on when alums can access tee times and those that exist could be worked around with no problem.  An alum can arrange a tee time for up to four players under one SAA membership.  I have played with friends and business associates.  Tee times can not be made under this program any more than three days in advance, so I usually make an acceptable tee time for my group at another course that we would play in the unlikely event that Stanford Golf Club were closed.  Once I had the Stanford arrangements lined up, I would cancel at the other course.

It is a beautiful course and has traditional elements that are not often part of modern golf course design.  There are tremendous shot values all around the course and I have fun every time I'm there.  Maybe I can play with one of you folks the next time I come to town.

I think it's now $175 for SAA members, which makes it pricey but if it's one time then I'd probably do it. I'm part-time faculty so I pay a lot less
