Stanford in the NFL - Austroturf - 11-17-2019

Broncos blow a 20 point lead against the Vikings and lose 27-23.  Not looking good for HC Fangio.

Richard Sherman committed two rather costly PI infractions against the Cardinals in the 1st quarter, leading to two Arizona scores.

Solomon Thomas almost gets a scoop and score, but Kyler Murray was ruled down.

Kyler Murray is doing his best impression of Russell Wilson against the Niners.

Honestly, since Luck retired, I have followed the NFL a lot less than past seasons.

But I see from my twitter feed that McCaffrey is setting some pretty unique marks:

Also, Okereke returns a 2pt conversion INT

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Austroturf - 11-17-2019

Sherman flagged for a 3rd PI on a critical 3rd down.

Garopolo threw four touchdowns.  Not bad for a guy who was declared to be so bad in the clutch last week.  Niners  won 36-26.

McCaffrey and the Panthers lost 29-3. McCaffrey has 70 yards rushing on 14 carries, and the 11 receptions for 121 yards.

FWLIW, at least one of those PI's were bogus, according to the announcer.  Niners were averaging five penalties per game this season, they had ten tonight (as did the Cardinals), and I thought two important plays went the 49ers way.  Very lucky.

He must be their entire offense.  Sounds like he needs to find a better team for which to play.

Saw none of the game, and listened to the last few seconds on KNBR, when the Niners scored on a scoop and score on the last play to at least equal the spread. Neither Papa nor Ryan were effusive in their praise for Janeane. Instead, they were amazed that someone with two bad picks would have such a high QBR. Happy for the home win against a pretty bad team. Should be interesting the next few weeks against three really good teams.

I mean, before the scoop and score, Garopolo led the miners on a game-winning drive. Given that the complaint last week was that he wasn’t “clutch”, I thought the fourth quarter drive (to say notihing of leading the team on a comeback from 16 down, was Germaine to that complaint. As for his pass efficiency, 4 TD and 424 yards can overcome a pair of picks.

I thought the fourth quarter drive was Montana-esque.  Right now, Garoppolo is third in the NFL in interceptions, 25th in passer rating, 7th in most TDs.  Kind of curious to know what it would be if his receivers didn't have such terrible hands.

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Phogge - 11-18-2019

Rickie James has to play more and Goodwin looks like he's done. Really poor body language. Hard to pick a receiver in the draft with a #1 and no 2,3,4.

Questio, would Shaw even play Kyler Murray if he had him? Doesn't fit the Ryan Burns mold that Shaw creates in his pottery wheel.
