Game on ESPN2. Oklahoma favored by 5.5 - they have a couple P5 games under their belt already.

We are 4.5 pt underdogs. Is that a lot in basketball?

Welp, Stanford up 14-0, so that shows how well informed the line is at this time of year.

As part of the lead up to this Classic both teams played UMES and W&M in their previous 2 games.

Stanford up 33-19 but Davis hurt. Shoulder

To add insult to injury, Davis was called for a flagarant.

I guess based on our respective performances near W&M this shouldn't be surprising, but damn I didn't expect this. We might actually be good. The defense is really really solid.

58-39 with about 10 minutes left in the game. Gotta say, this team looks a lot different than what I've seen the last few years. I'm not sure how good Oklahoma is (they are undefeated) but we are making them look like we used to look. What a difference a year makes.

Oklahoma looks like Stanford did the last few years these pre-season tournaments have been played. Really impressive ball movement and defensive intensity. But it sure helps to have these two Frosh who can shoot it in Terry and Jones.

Tyrell Terry is the real deal. I love how he plays with so much confidence. Spencer Jones is good too especially when he gets his inside game going.

I am assuming that the "Really impressive ball movement and defensive intensity." is not applicable to Oklahoma, right?
BC
Crap, Terry is down and hurt. Hope it is just a cramp.
BC
73-54 is your final. No idea how good Oklahoma is, but this feels like the old days where we could comfortably win against a middle of the road Power 5 conference team.

This is an eye-opener, for sure.
Love the ball movement. The shooting really looks legit.
Butler is very likely better than Oklahoma. Looking forward to tomorrow's game.

It's definitely OK to be excited given the ease of this victory, but Oklahoma was only ranked 8th in the 10 team Big XII in the pre-season poll.
Butler, by the way, was also ranked 8th in the 10-team Big East pre-season poll. (Stanford was ranked 10th in the Pac.)

I agree with you CrazedZoo, it was the D that was the most impressive part of Stanford's game.
Yeah, Terry was very good (especially in 1H), and yes, the ball movement was pretty good - but Terry ended up 7/17 from the floor (and 2 for 7 from trey) and Stanford's shooting % wasn't all that.
But the D was very, very good (especially around the rim - didn't get caught on pump fakes very often). And the rebounding was EXCELLENT!
Thumbs up!! Tomorrow will be another test, perhaps testing Stanford's toughness (mental and physical) more than tonight. Oklahoma didn't have much fight in them after the early blitz.
P.S. Biggest bucket: a 2H trey by DD that bumped lead above the 17 points gained from the outset.

Clearly the reason the football team had a bad year: WE ARE A BASKETBALL SCHOOL AGAIN! :-)
Cheers,

Always a good day when you beat the spread by 24 points!
Tomorrow's game vs Butler should be exciting. They are similarly shallow in their rotation (7 guys played >5 mins vs Mizzou), hang their hats on defense, and have veteran guards who will match up well vs. Terry, Davis, and Wills. It will be a slugfest.
