Forecast is improving. 80% chance of rain at noon, but dropping to 50/50 for the game. My guess is we will get some sprinkles.

Is the reputation of the Stanford field for water drainage good or is it usually very sloppy after as much rain as we've had recently ?

RE: No sitting in the rain for me - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

The field is below grade, and has had some problems in the past, though less lately.

I guess we will see.

The field once was the best draining field in the country (hence the NFL okaying the Super Bowl). Did they rip out the old set up when the built the new stadium?

RE: No sitting in the rain for me - PAsportsfan - 11-30-2019

New stadium, field is closer to the water table, poor draining. 2011 season final three games had lots of rain, with  each game having worse draining. The Oregon game was the pinnacle of sloppy field. Duck players changed the length of their spikes and did well, Cardinal players slipped all over the field.

Well Bob, 1 hour before kickoff we have a nice steady rainfall. You probably made the right call. It looks like me and a dozen of my closest friends will watch the game in a sea of Leprechauns.

Guess this post should hit the hodgepodge of critical posts. Can't believe you're blaming Shaw for poor halftime cleat adjustments during a game eight years ago. It did cost the Cardinal a shot at the national championship, though.

Even the diners are choosing not to sit in the rain for this.  Obviously lots of people in the mezzanine, but the stadium is empty.

Add, the field itself looks like it’s in decent shape.

Never easy to eat in the rain.

This could be the lowest attended game Notre Dame has played in ANY stadium in 30?, 40? 50?? years.

There were a fair number of fans who were calling for a sloppy field because they thought it would slow the Ducks down.
Then we got one and when it seemed to bother us more than it did the Ducks people blamed the loss on the sloppy field.
It probably wasn't the same people, but I still thought it was ironic.
Be very careful about what you wish for. You just might get it.
