Senior day - BostonCard - 11-30-2019

For what it is worth, Costello, Maddox, Pryts, Schaffer, Stewart, Swann, and Williams were all introduced.

No guarantee that any or all of them will leave, or that Juniors won’t, but if the D linemen all go, we are screwed next year.

All those DL recruits will fill in. Oops.

You don't recover from 3 years of major recruiting whiffs in one class. My only hope for next season is that it's not as bad as this one was

Eboh, Robinson, Parkinson were not.  There has been speculation around those 3 so I view that as a good sign that those 3 will be back.

RE: Senior day - BobK - 11-30-2019

2017 recruiting ranked # 14
2018 recruiting ranked # 40 and we could agrue all day about why 15 signed
2019 recruiting ranked # 21

Just an FYI

Rankings don't reflect how poorly holes in the roster were filled over the last 3 classes:
- 4 ILBs to start the season, two of which were converted from other positions
- 7 OL to start the season
- Both starting safeties converted from CB

Those are BIG recruiting problems that can't be fully fixed by next fall.

RE: Senior day - Phogge - 11-30-2019

Bobbbbb, journalists lie. Shaw has always said that the rankings were BS.

Parkinson is not a senior ergo not introduced.

RE: Senior day - BobK - 11-30-2019

Ok on rankings but we started the season with 12 OL not 7

RE: Senior day - gailtate - 11-30-2019

Recruiting rankings are pretty much meaningless for teams whose coaching staff shows NO evidence of developing their players for several years. And, BTW, another of Carberry's players went down with a devastating injury today. This is now STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT, FOLKS. Am I the only one connecting these dots?

Oh, and that was Dave Wannstedt, at halftime in the Fox studio, making a point of citing the "lackadaisical" effort by the OL leading to the blocked punt. Not their youth/inexperience.

Shaw's OK with it all, however, because the team kept fighting and competing. Silly me, all this time I thought the object of these games had something to with winning them.

Really? I’d be curious to see the results of your statistical analysis.

I believe he was referring to the trio in front of the punter...not the OL.

I am curious for more elaboration on your thoughts, Gailtate.    I have been sitting here camped on the theory that it is the S&C program being sub-par.    Are you thinking it may be Carberry?  And if so, any sense for what he is doing or is failing to do which is leading to this rash of injuries?

Carberry arrived in a season where we only had 3 athletic trainers, one of whom was a 26-year-old former assistant (who is now back to being an assistant) acting as the interim head trainer because our AD/HC wouldn't bother to find a new one with any sense of urgency. Turley was also on his way out at that point, and we had 2 assistant S&C coach slots unfilled as well until a couple months ago because same reason as above. Unfortunately IMO there's no way to tell how much each of those contributed to this problem.

S&C has been a disaster for two years now. Muir needs to put some money into more/better football-specific S&C.

Not just football - also women's basketball. In just the last two years, Brittany McPhee, Dijonai Carrington, Lexie Hull, and Maya Dodson have all been felled by lower-body repetitive stress injuries to their feet or ankles that have required them to miss significant chunks of the season.

RE: Senior day - BobK - 12-01-2019

Well our previous WBB S&C coach is now at ND Brewer Dodson and Carrington now injured.
