Thread closed--fan/booster question - cardcrimson - 12-18-2019
The sticky "Rules for Boosters and Fans" thread posted above is closed. I have a very naive question to ask. Surprisingly my kid has taken to water polo and is okay, though extremely unlikely to be recruited, especially by Stanford. That said, some members of her club team, and perhaps her high school, surely will be. I'm a fan of Stanford water polo, but not a donor or booster; the limitations mentioned above, especially on meals and transportation, seem pretty onerous. What's allowed? On club trips, I'm sure I've already sat at a bar and bought drinks for the dads of some of these kids, and while over the next four years, I'm sure we'll be lugging the players around on occasion as well. What's allowed?
As a side note, I was stunned when I emailed one of the coaches of my daughters club team about a "shadow visit" at the school where she coached: she basically replied that she can't talk to me about high schools at all, as it's a violation of CIF rules. Wow.
