NFL Playoffs - cardcrimson - 01-04-2020
Bills cough up a 16-0 lead, with the help of the officials. Don't care much for either team, but two calls killed the Bills. First, a blind side block call in OT prevented a long field goal attempt. The offending OL basically stood in the defenders way and the defender never even hit the ground due to the block. But alas, 15 yards and out of field goal range. The second was a non-called DOG penalty on a converted third and long by the Texans. The clock clearly ran out, but the officials gave Watson an extra tick with no penalty. As mentioned above, not a fan of either team, but really don't like seeing officiating blowing a game.
And on top of that, Joe Tessitore is horrible. His partner is worse--for some reason ABC thinks Booger is great, but he snot.

Before Madden the color guys only spoke when they could add something. Now they talk after every play. It deadens their impact. The production truck does not respect the audience.
Tes loves to repeat himself and Booger just has mouth diarrhea.

Monday Night was not football and was never meant to be because of Roone. It was entertainment and a ton of what Howard and Dan talked about wasn’t football. I worked with all of them Bobbbbbbbbb.

Josh Allen was like a terrified gazelle out there. His line did him no favors, though. Reminiscent of the Jack West Express vs. UCLA this season...
Also, Booger McFarland said he'd "run a little draw play then spike it" when it was 3rd and 10. So he'd spike it on 4th. Got it.

Not to mention the reversal (which was appropriate) of the weird kickoff play. It was clear that the Houston returner intended a touchback, which is why the call was appropriate, but you gotta take the knee man.

I believe Bob is suggesting that if you don't like color commentators who think they are the show then your original sinner is Howard Cossell and MNF. He's right but then I'm ok with that style when the guy talking adds value. The high noise, no signal guys are the ones we hate.
Back to the original subject: Who wins tomorrow? Seahawks or Eagles? My gut says 'Hawks in this battle of injured and flawed teams. I trust Russel Wilson at QB over Carson Wentz, especially if our Zack Ertz doesn't play. Vegas and 538 disagree.

Despised Cosell for his anti-Raider vitriol. That said, he was must watch TV. Dandy Don was a hoot. A moron perhaps, but a hoot. MNF in those days, was fantastic and a staple in our household growing up. . ..
Not a Titans fan, either, and still think Henry robbed McCaffrey of the Hiesman. The dude is a beast.

Can’t say I’m to broken up about Brady’s season ending with a pick-six. Father Time has finally caught up to him, and I wonder how long the Patriots, who are nothing if not dispassionate, cut him loose.

A team with a QB who passed for 72 yards won an NFL playoff game. No offensive points scored in a second half of a playoff game. Both are shocking to see happen.

In my household we often turned off the TV sound and turned on the radio instead when Cosell and company were on MNF. Cosell was just too obnoxious.

Cosell was the guy everyone loved to hate.
I read one time about a group of people who watched MNF together. Before each game they would buy a cheap TV. When Cosell's face first appeared on screen they would take turns weekly blowing it away with a gun. Then they would watch the game on their regular TV. I thought that was a bit much.

Allen is a work in progress. Made a lot this year. Ways to go. Buffalo played the OT as if it was a two minute drill. It was bizarre. Truly bad football.

49'ers will now play Minnesota next Saturday, after the Vikings upset of the Saints today.
Minnesota is the lowest remaining seed #6.
