Happy birthday, Redrum! - yvonne - 02-11-2020

Best wishes to longtime CardBoard treasurer Redrum!

To keep it in perspective, all the local relatives think my nephew's rural HS playoff game (to make it to the "big show") is what is special about today.  Sadly, they are probably right.  On the other hand the kid still can't drive anywhere worthwhile on his own, doesn't have a clue about girls although , reportedly, the texting is pretty, ummm, racy, and he will be thrilled to go to Bama.  But as yr. 70 is dropping astern for me, I'm tempted to wish for just a little part of the fun he has waiting for him.  Thanks, all.  Only present I want is start of football practice.

I may be wrong but is this the same Redrum who attended Terra Linda High?

IIRC he went to John Muir HS in Pasadena.

Happy birthday Redrum!

Indeed!

Well, your presence is always appreciated around here.  The classic redrum combo of well-written insight, humor and self-deprecation is evident in your post above and your comments as a whole.

May your baseball playing nephew envy the fun you have on your special day!

John Muir Mustangs!  Sent a (relatively) lot of kids to Stanford, including my HS best friend, Steve Jubb, who went on a football scholarship and had played OT in the Rose Bowl edifice in HS before Stanford took him there again.  And, now, like then, I am riding on his coat tails. FWLIW, after graduation I ended up back in Pasadena as a newspaper reporter and only got thrust out into a wider world when a bitter union fight turned a great newsroom into a toxic revenge movie.  But that move gave me a great second  career in the environmental field and, for better or worse, a life re-established in Alabama.  Still had to pay Stanford for Redrumette's education but worth every penny and which looks like a bargain, even quaint, as I clean out my desk and see her's cost then vs. now.

So what's the story with the other Redrum?

Asking because I went to TL, and it may be the first time I've ever seen somebody reference the place.

Maybe Phogge confused redrum with the great Spaceman Bull Lee
