Chasson Randle in limbo because of coronavirus - Spiny_Norman - 02-26-2020

ESPN report on pro basketball players in China including Chasson Randle who have been affected by the coronavirus. The China pro league is on hold for the time being, but Randle's team will not give him a release to play in the NBA.

I’m glad he was (and other players were) sent home during the Lunar New Year Break and not physically stuck *IN* China! Sounds like they (including the team and FIBA) are being totally unreasonable.

Ultimately, people are going to be just as susceptible to the virus in the U.S. as anywhere else.

This is ridiculous, but apparently international pro basketball is full of shady practices.  Dan Grunfeld had a blog while he was playing overseas, and I recall stories about owners not paying players on time, withholding pay for ludicrous reasons, etc.

As for the virus, I won't be surprised if we end up with a lot of sports being played in front of empty stadiums/arenas.  It's already happening with soccer in Europe.

Tokyo Olympics in just a few months. Will be interesting indeed. . . .

They recently announced that preseason baseball games will be played in empty stadiums in Japan (until March 15-ish).

Randle signed a 10-day with the Warriors.  Good to see him back in the NBA.  https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28815676/chasson-randle-sign-warriors-amid-cba-coronavirus-shutdown

Great opportunity for him! I hope he can show them something in the 10 days.
