That's a solid 7-2 win over Tennessee. This is a Tennessee team that went to the Super Regional last year; however, they seem to be slightly weaker this year if the surprise losses to USF and East Tennessee State are anything to go by.

I would say that is more than a solid win (especially since it was on the road). That was a brobdingnagian (thanks CB for the auto-correct), resume defining win (much as our win at LSU was last year). Tennessee's ace pitcher has been out, which can explain their recent slide. However, they returned some experienced players from last year's team, and they are consistently among the top recruiting schools in the country. I think they will be much better when their ace returns.
Congratulations to the players and coaches on an outstanding result tonight!
As an aside, USF would probably be a tourney bubble team if the field was selected today, and their HC has been the United States national team coach (though he is currently coaching with Team USA ahead of the Olympics). USF has a strong softball program.
ETSU is definitely not as strong of a team, but that game was on the road for UT. Tennessee already has wins at ASU, neutral Northwestern, and Utah.

A loss today to Tennessee 5-0. We are 22-4 and now off for 12 days then league play starts at Oregon
