Not even any gratuitous Shaw bashing.

Anyway here is an article about Davis Mills that might get the ball rolling.

His staying healthy is obviously one of the keys to us having a good season.

Wow that’s an exciting article, thanks for sharing it!

Anyone know how things are looking for public attendance at the spring scrimmage?

If attendance is encouraged I’d like to go, but things are so day-to-day right now, who knows what things will be like in the bay area by apr 11.

I renewed my season tickets on the first day but figure we will just see what happens. I could see the empty stadium/tv-only scenario, I could see the 1/3 full rule, I could see a “come if you can” approach with no restrictions, and I’m really hoping for the virus being over/under control (as much as it can without a vaccine) scenario, but it feels impossible to guess at this time.

Haven't heard anything specific about the spring scrimmage, but I would imagine it will be a lot like last year where contact will be limited to avoid injury. I know some people showed up last year expecting a full game style scrimmage and were disappointed when it wasn't. So between that and Covid-19 I expect attendance to be pretty sparse.

excited for this team and Mills . . . nervous for his knees

Wish I could find a quote but yes, the spring scrimmage will be similar to last year's. On the whole the team is healthier and most will participate in drills, but many will be held out of full contact. Compare that to last year's team where most who were out for spring were out for spring, period. Ironically, missing a bowl game was actually good for the team in terms of recovery/getting needed surgery earlier.

There are only 5 healthy scholarship OL and a walk-on. The sad part is this is actually better than last spring's 4 healthy scholarship OL and a walk-on. The good news is the scholarship OL are 4 rising sophs/RS frosh (Rouse, Miller, Hornibrook, Nugent) and Dalman...getting all these younger guys a ton more reps will be very beneficial. We know Little, Sarell, and (very likely) Bragg will all start, so only one from this group will likely be starting. My money is on Miller at the other OG spot. I can't stress enough just how garbage of a situation Bloomgren left this OL room in. It's practically a ground-up rebuild for Carberry.

That article is extremely encouraging.  Thanks for posting it.  I hope his knees hold up.  When he was on the field last year (and after a bit of acclimation) he demonstrated that he may be able to carry this team's offense similarly to Luck or Elway or any of our great QB's of the past.  Now if someone could find an article that is even close to as encouraging about the defense.

Quote:Per Shaw's press conference, the structure will be similar to last year's with half drills/skills work and half live scrimmage. We actually have more healthy bodies now than we did at the same time last year, but some guys coming off major injuries/surgery will be held out of the scrimmage.
