Nice to have some real news, no matter what it's about -- redshirt possibilities, coaching changes, recruits, when will we play again, etc. -- rather than endless speculation. But re this, I find it surprising. Is she really ready?

But here is a question: why not Tempie? Is Tempie not interested in a head coaching job?

I was also surprised Lindy was hired by a major school as a first-time head coach. I think that it means that they went after the best coach they could get within a certain price range. Karlie also came to mind as Lindy's replacement.

Honestly, I think a part of making jumps comes down to whether you find a position that is an excellent fit. For UNLV this is a no brainer. Lindy went to high school in Vegas, and is one of the all time leading scorers in Nevada Basketball History. It’s a great chance for her to return home and see what she could do. Tempie is likely waiting for the right situation to come about before jumping ship. So much of coaching is fickle that if you end up in a place that isn’t a good fit, it’s hard to move on.

I knew the Unlv job was open when Oliver retired. Did I even think about it no so never thought about Lindy. But doubt unlv hired the cheapest option
Interesting that our ILBer football coach became the unlv Defensive co ordinator recently

I know very little about coaches in the NCAA and so does anyone have any knowledge of some realistic, and maybe a few hopeful but out of reach choices, to fill Lindy's spot? I remember when Cal was trying to find an assistant that is now filled by April Phillips a lot of names were being thrown around and it was very interesting to see their history.

I think Karlie would be a great pick. Assuming she wants to stop playing and coach now, she would have the opportunity to work with an elite staff of Tara, Kate and Tempe at an elite program. I remember Tara saying several times that she should coach, and Kate saying that she had a good understanding of tactics. Besides her WNBA and European playing experience, she was an assistant coach at Concordia University while she was studying there. And everybody knows everybody so there shouldn’t be any surprises. Yes, Karlie!

Karlie is not experienced enough - she was only at Vanguard as an assistant from 1/2018 to 5/2018. I think her mentor, Russ Davis, was helping her out while she was pursuing her Grad degree

That said our staff is beyond experience and having a bright young coach would fit in
Also it would be fun to discuss possible names

Any news on the search for the new assistant coach? I was thinking about Jennifer Azi or Katy Stedding who is the current coach at USF and previous assistant coach at Cal.
