Well, that's a first -

Stanford women's soccer, in their rematch of last season's championship game against Notre Dame, is experiencing a lightning delay. Lots of lightning in the East Bay has been moving westward.
Game is tied 0-0 in the 43rd minute. Stanford has had the majority of the possession, but the Irish have had more shots and more shots on goal. Cardinal keeper Emily Oliver came up with a great save off a left-footed rocket from about 22 yards to tip the ball over the bar on the most dangerous chance yet, but Stanford has had three balls go just wide, one from Hing-Glover, one from Lindsay Taylor and a strange play where a service from the right led to a pinball situation off the Irish keeper, Sydney Payne and a couple of other defenders with a bouncing ball going just wide of the right post.
Oh, and the women's volleyball team beat Penn State in 4. More on both in a bit...

Ah, so that's where it is. I saw lightning coming over the hill, but there was no thunder, so I knew it was a ways away.

How did the post delay game play out? Did they come back, stretch and the play the 90 (or so) seconds and then take a normal halftime? How annoying for the players to warmup, play under that kind of tension and then go back to the locker rooms to repeat the process.Â

Lefty--
Pretty much exactly like that. One thing I forgot to mention, the lightning was accompanied by a couple of short violent downpours. When the game was called it was really coming down. Teams went to the locker rooms, the fans mostly retreated to their cars, and the officials huddled under the new bleachers on the other side of the field.
After about 30 minutes, the subs came back out, then the starters, and both teams seemed to go through an abbreviated version of their full game warmup. Then they played about 1:10 of time and took a normal halftime.
I forgot, the men's first win of the season, 3-1, came against #15 Kentucky on the same field in the early afternoon. Wasn't able to watch it, but it supposedly ran long as well. Which explains why Santa Clara-Irvine ran so late.
