I for one am excited about this.  I live a half-hour from the CU stadium.  The whole family will be dressed in Stanford red and sitting in the best seats possible for every Stanford game.  Garvin will be proud of my new red Jeep Wrangler, which gets even worse gas mileage than his red Mustang.

How will the Pac-zilla conference divisions be split?  Will Stanford ever play an away game at CU\'s stadium if they aren\'t put in the same division?

In the conference formerly known as the Big 12, schools always play division mates plus maybe 3 schools from the other division on a rotating schedule. Those game sites alternate home and away (MU plays in Norman and Austin, as well as in CoMo, etc.).

UA and ASU will apparently end up in with Colorado, UT, A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and OSU in the "most misnomered conference in sports."  I argue that geographic errors are more serious than the ability to count the number of teams in your conference (here\'s to you, Big 10!).

Presumption is that the Pac-8 teams would still play each other every year in football, with rotating games for the not-remotely-pac-8 squads.

I like the proposal to term the Big 12 refugees + Arizona as the "No Country for Old Men Division."

This necessitates a neat name for the Pac-8.

The Big Western Conference....with "Cowboy" and "Vaquero" divisions. That ought to sit well in Berkeley.

called the PAX16 or whatever integer at which the roulette wheel stops.

Pacific-Texas Conference formally; kind of Romanesque in a dominate the Mediterranean way (or maybe a pride before the fall way -- we\'ll see.

Because once you go east of the Divide you never go back. Boulder Creek flows to the S Platte which flows to Platte which flows to the the Missouri which flows to the Mississippi which flows to the Gulf of MEXICO (not California).  That\'s the flippin\' ATLANTIC Ocean!  Calling this the Pac16 would be an abomination against paleohydrology.

But in any event, welcome to my hometown University of California at Boulder, which is what we called CU in high school due to all the left coast transplants who usually lasted only their freshman years before the cold and snow drove them back to the LA basin.

I hope for years of bottom dwelling as kharmic payback for your 5 down asterisk-laden 1990 "title", not to mention Eric Bienemy\'s "winning touchdown" against Stanford that year.

If the Big 12 falls like some (most?) expect it will,  that the Pac-10 will be working the BCS for TWO automatic bowl berths,  one for each division, which means  (wait for it)... no championship playoff game!
Me likey this.   Rose Bowl for the Pac-8 champ,  the Poulan Weedeater Bowl for the No Country for Old Men champ.

this is really an ideal outcome. Previously hated the idea, but those conditions would convert me.

Or ND accepts the Big 10 offer, Texas stays in the Big XII and we are stuck w/ Colorado thereby destroying our parity, name and round robin schedule.  If that does happen, are the Big XII (now eleven teams) and the Big 10(1) (now twelve teams) obligated to switch names?
