new TreeCast w/David Esquer & Troy Walters - troyc - 05-20-2020

New TreeCast is up....a super-sized episode that I think is worth your while. Two special guests:

+ Stanford baseball head coach David Esquer on the Card's tough season, why he thinks the Card can compete for a national title sooner rather than later, the lessons he learned from leading Cal to the 2011 College World Series while that program was set for elimination, and his remembrance of Zach Hoffpauir

+ Stanford football legend Troy Walters on his new job as the Cincinnati Bengals' assistant receivers coach (and how much his guys can help Joe Burrow), his favorite catch in a Cardinal uniform, how a healthy Stanford team would have beaten Wisconsin in the 2000 Rose Bowl, and the pride he takes in Stanford football's success over the past decade

You know what to do....subscribe, listen, rate, review, react, and enjoy!

I'm old enough to remember when many people here were clamoring for Troy Walters to be made offensive coordinator, though many figured we wouldn't be able to pry him from Nebraska.  The good news, however, is that he is probably available.

Question for the baseball cognoscenti: Esquire mentioned that they plugged - or at least have attempted - to plug some holes from the team that lost the playoff series at Mississippi State.  Anyone want to hazzard a guess as to how he may have done so or is in the process of hopefully doing so? I guess the obvious answer is "recruit better talent." But, anyone have a better/more precise answer?

Really enjoyed talking to Esquer...it's clear how much it means to him to lead that program. That came across especially in his last answer, I thought. He was more optimistic than I was that things would've turned around for Stanford this year had the season not been shut down, but he's supposed to be, right? Thought that chat went well....and loved talking to Troy Walters. Hope he helps the Bengals do big things!

How to subscribe depends on what app you use to listen. The show is on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, and iHeart (and maybe a few others I'm not aware of). If you have an iPhone, on your "Podcasts" app, search for "The TreeCast with Troy Clardy", choose it, and hit the "subscribe" button that pops up. Other apps work much the same, I'd imagine. Spotify & iHeart have "follow" buttons, even on their desktop versions, so you don't need a smartphone.

By the way, we're scheduled for two special guests on next week's show. One of them is Brevin Knight.

Thank YOU for listening! Spread the word.
