TreeCast w/Lance Anderson - troyc - 06-10-2020

Check out the latest TreeCast, with Stanford defensive coord-- I'm sorry -- Willie Shaw Director of Defense Lance Anderson as our special guest. Among the things we cover:

+ what the defense was able to accomplish on the field during the shortened spring, and who has stood out in Zoom meetings

+ what he's expecting from Paulson Adebo, Thomas Booker, and the ILB unit

+ which young players to watch

+ coaching during a pandemic and national civil unrest

+ whether today's offensive schemes are changing how defenses are built

...and much more! Also, an under-the-radar player for Stanford is starting to get noticed...and 3 Things you need to know around Stanford athletics.

My favorite part of this podcast was Lance forgetting Jacob Mangum-Farrar's first name, twice.

Less sarcastically, the extent to which injuries ravaged the defense really was something last season. You could hear it in the interview. So many practice opportunities missed, valuable reps missed, starters forced to play every down without rotating. By the end of the season every position except DL was held together with sticks and scotch tape. One hidden benefit to missing the second half of spring ball is the team should report for offseason conditioning the healthiest it's been in years. (And we didn't have to sit through another non-spring game with only 5 healthy OL!)

Interestingly, IIRC, the first name Lance mentioned when asked about young players to watch out for was Nic Toomer. Didn't expect that.

Great to hear about Toomer. He was an outstanding track and baseball guy in HS

Too many Jacobs in Lance’s life

And maybe a ladder?
