I believe the NCAA rules allow the WVB team to start practice on August 6 or 7. Are the players on campus? Most of the other top teams have their players on campus lifting weights and doing strength conditioning.
Francis is still AWOL on word about committing to a college team.

Haven’t seen anything on twitter or instagram about WVB on campus. But we will learn about schedules Friday.

Interview with coach Hambly:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMW3uPkxeg0
He thinks WVB season will be postponed or closed down at some point if it does get started.
RE: Recruiting:Women’s Volleyball -

The Big West just announced no fall sports. So the possibility of WVB and close by non league games is gone. Unless in the Spring of course
RE: Recruiting:Women’s Volleyball - Softball Fan - 07-30-2020
This is off topic but I'll put it here rather than start a thread. You probably have to be a WVB fan to have an interest.
https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/oregon-state-beavers/report-oregon-state-volleyball-players-describe-abusive-environment-under-coach
Players on the Oregon State women's team complained about a hostile environment. Two players contemplated suicide. Here is one player's quote.
"He’d call us entitled brats, a bunch of princesses, tell us how much we suck, and how we’re unworthy of being here. He’d push players beyond the limits of what they physically and mentally could do."
It's surprising to me because the coach was always so calm during matches; never really argued with the officials, never got loud or aggressive to the players during the games. Of course, you can't know what's going on from what you see on TV.

Speaking of recruiting. Kami Miner setter ranked # 4 in the class is a commit. Many think or hope #5 Sam Francis 6-6 maybe RS will commit. We have two openings

USA professional women's indoor volleyball to start in February 2021

I give it one season before it goes bankrupt. If some Stanford alums play I would actually pay to view the matches. Unfortunately there aren't many fans in the country who will pay to view this sport except for Olympics qualification matches.

The AAU hosted a girl's club indoor volleyball tournament in Orlando, Florida two weeks ago.
Over 10,000 participants and staff attended the tournament.
Players were required to wear masks at all times except when they were on the court practicing or playing. Organizers said there was not one player who registered a complaint about the rule.

This is interesting. Several days before the tournament I read only 270 players this year

Hentz, Gray and Gates all now in Germany for their pro team. Sadly Fitzmorris won't be playing out with an injury.

https://onwardstate.com/2020/08/05/ncaa-outlines-fall-championship-guidelines-defers-final-decision-to-divisions/
"The NCAA Board of Governors announced Wednesday morning final decisions on fall championships should be made by each individual division.
All three divisions are instructed to make a final ruling on fall sports and NCAA championships by Friday, August 21."
There are over a dozen DI WVB conferences. I can't see any of the conferences putting out a firm schedule until they know when the NCAA championships will be held.

Stanford coach Hambly on practice prior to August 15th start date:
“We’re not allowed to be inside yet for training, so we’re setting up outdoor sports courts at our tennis facility and training under the lights …
Oregon coach on cost of one volleyball team doing Covid-19 testing. I'm not sure why it would cost that much.
“What does it cost,” Matt Ulmer mused, “350, 400 grand to test properly following the guidelines? Something like that. You have to have that kind of money to even think about it.”

tests are typically free with insurance. without insurance, retail cost is about $100. 15 players and 10 staff then cost $2500 per test cycle. test twice a week = $5000. 16 weeks of play comes in under 100k - and insurance will pay some of it - especially if anyone tests positive. sounds like someone's getting a kick-back.

NCAA DII and DIII cancel all fall sports championships including volleyball.
ESPN reporter expects DI to cancel all fall championships except football.
