BobbbbbbK will need to find something else to do in the early morning of January 1. Perhaps NBC will rerun the 1971 Parade.

I walked the parade route once with my father's Akeley Gyro tripod. It was in the newsreel section of the Smithsonian last time I visited the museum in the late 70's. Once was enough.
Officially the tunnel that connects Park Presidio Blvd with the old post is the MacArthur Tunnel. I assume the General's parade was on Market. As kids we used to bus to the Chinese New Year's Parade. Was ok but we were there to buy cherry bombs, torpedoes and firecrackers.

What a brobdingnagian bummer. Now there's zero reason to get out of bed early on NYD.
Thankfully, Pelosi and Breed told us it was A-OK to hit the Chinese New Year's celebrations in San Francisco so at least we had a chance to celebrate a new year then. . . .
FWIW, did attend the Tournament of Roses Parade when I was a kid. Great experience in person, something everybody needs to do at least once.

One of my best memories from college is driving down to LA each year to spend overnight on Colorado Blvd with my Stanford friends, reserving front-row position to view the parade the next morning. The overnight was even more fun than the parade, a great scene, lots of friendly people wandering around, going over to see the floats close-up (they were parked in order overnight at the start of the route).

Been to three Rose Bowl parade + games--2000, 2001 and 2016. No regrets, parade-wise, for any of those three times.

I wonder how many millenials will even notice it's absence. I'm class of '81. I couldn't wait to go on 1/1/00, but my kids couldn't give a damn. Too many other choices for kids to entertain themselves on holiday mornings the last 30 years.
I suspect the parade will be a shadow of its current self in another 30
