MLB pool? - Phogge - 07-28-2020

Should we start a pool for when the brakes are slammed on the season?

I think this week. Maybe Thursday.

No Phillies have tested positive--yet--so I'm still hopeful that MLB will be able to complete the season. But I think that MLB and the players are going to have to agree to adjust and enforce the Covid protocols for that to happen.

This certainly moves the needle toward some sort of shutdown:

Marlins are now shut down through the weekend. Phillies not playing until weekend at earliest.  The schedule is already being re-jiggered for Marlins, Phillies, Orioles, Yankees, and Nationals as a result of Marlins outbreak.

They are shuffling schedule.  I never thought they’d play, much less finish.  If it happens to another team, that’s it.

I think it's longer.  I say shutdown date August 10.  Players will be careful for awhile, someone will slip, another team will have a dozen players test positive, end of season. Championship awarded to team with fewest players testing positive.
