Recruiting board, I hardly knew ye... - jayasena - 02-05-2013

I was just getting in the habit of visiting the recruiting board... Finished reading a thread, and clicked the link for that board, and poof! It no longer exists.

Anyway, no complaints from me -- I'm fine with a single merged board. In fact, I much prefer it. So thanks Yvonne!

brobdingnagian mistake in my opinion.

The recruiting board is the new H word.

With the board in place Stanford had a very poor recruiting effort, at least for a three time BCS bowl program.  Sure, a future Voldemort winner may emerge from the class, but collectively the group looks average at best.

I am blaming the recruiting board!

So just for clarification, the recruiting board goes back to being a distinct  board during the football season?

To me, there is ever so slightly a synergy with distinct boards.  But perhaps the small happy family prefers to sit around one crowded breakfast nook, rather than drift off to sundry game and media rooms.

That's a great descriptive analogy.  I want it to be accurate even if I don't know the facts.

I drop in and out of the recruiting board when I remember it's there so I like having the discussion on our main page.  I can see how those who use it more often could get annoyed at seeing their topics cycle off the front page every other day.

Trust in the web mistress to resolve!

The ban of the H word was a false idol -- a fatted golden longhorn, if you will -- that surely did little help for us. The ban of the H word brought us Teevens, Idiotface, Trent Johnson and Dawkins. And, lo, it was terrible.

Re: Recruiting board, I hardly knew ye... - jayasena - 02-11-2013

I remain convinced that the H word is a misunderstood and wrongly vilified lucky charm.

The last time the word was uttered on this board: 1999
The year the ban was removed: 2012

Surely, I'm not the only one who realizes what else those two seasons have in common...

The word was not revived until 2013.

I could have sworn I saw h-word appear on the board towards the latter part of last year...

Nope. I freed it in response to the report of the conversation at the Rose Bowl. Perhaps, it's on parole.

Perhaps you saw the use of "h.uge" by those of us who overtly thwart the auto-defect features of the board.

Parole is terrible.  Better to do your time and not have the man meddling in your business.  You know, like Ted Straleski.

Cheers,
Pete F.

Did Straleski compete in the hammer throw while he was on parole or did he get paroled after his hammer throw and then compete in more events?
