What becomes of our stellar recruiting class of 2017? - CardinalSagehen - 08-27-2020

The entering class of 2017 was our last truly elite recruiting class and would have formed the nucleus of this year's team.  The class was on the small side with only 14 recruits, but their average rating was 3rd in the country according to 247Sports, behind only Alabama and tOSU.  See https://247sports.com/college/stanford/Season/2017-Football/Commits/.

I personally do not believe there will be a Winter or Spring season, for multiple reasons including but not limited to Covid progress. As a result, I've been wondering what will happen to these guys, many of whom have dealt with significant injuries that limited their contributions so far. 

Here's a breakdown of that stellar 2017 class...

In the NFL:
Colby Parkinson

Unquestionably will declare for the draft and be drafted:
Walker Little
Paulson Adebo

Transferred:
Sione Lund (Utah)

Still an underclassman - LDS mission:
Levani Damuni

Would benefit from another year (or two) to have a shot at NFL.  Stay or grad transfer?:
Foster Sarell
Davis Mills
Osiris St. Brown
Conor Wedinton

Would benefit from another year if they just love football and want a grad degree. Stay, retire or grad transfer?
Drew Dalman (Did I put him in the wrong group?)
Ryan Johnson
Dalyn Wade-Perry
Stuart Head
Tucker Fisk

There are also projected starters from 2016 like Jordan Fox, Malik Antoine, Jet Toner, and Curtis Robinson. I have to assume they'll be ready to get on with their lives, but maybe not, if they really really love football. 

In case I'm wrong and a Winter/Spring Season does materialize, I think most of these guys other than Adebo and Little would want to play.  But that probably increases the likelihood that they're gone in Fall 2021.
