What a great attitude.  After watching this video Fidelak became my favorite player.  Unfortunately IMO she will not get much playing time.

On the topic of WVB I watched Notre Dame play Louisville on TV. During the National Anthem all the white Notre Dame players stood looking at the flag, most with their hands over their hearts.  The five African American players were down on one knee looking at the floor.    For me it brought into focus how racially divided this country is.  It will be a long time before race relations are resolved.  It's sad.

That’s beyond sad. Thanks for the post

Yes Fidelak wonderful attitude. Ran track in HS and well I asked her any chance to run at Stanford no way 400 hurdles way too long lol.

Yes, it is.  In many ways.  I love how the Anthem's primary role now in sports is virtue signaling, which I suppose at least gives the Anthem a role.  Before this, what really was the point of playing the Anthem anyway?

"Virtue signaling" is one of the most intellectually insulting terms I have ever come across.

If it was used to describe what the words mean individually, the term would be fine. Instead, it is used as a wedge for right wingers to attack people who are trying to do the right thing, as if there is shame in trying to look out for others.

No, not every action someone takes in an effort to help others is going to be perfect, but the idea of attacking people for trying to be better people is just totally reprehensible.

I don't think we'll ever resolve them.

Sometimes, you crack me up . . .

Can anyone tell me what the point is (or was) of playing the anthem before sporting events?

Thought this was a volleyball thread

RE: WVB: Mackenzie Fidelak My Story video - pefloresjr - 09-26-2020

I'm broken hearted by a team that breaks down along racial lines.  I hope that our team would do their best to come up with a unified response.  I even appreciated when some NFL players who didn't kneel, put their hands on the shoulders of their teammates who were kneeling showing support for their position. I don't know what will happen with our team, but I hope they find a consensus response the way the WNBA did under Nneka Ogwumike.

Cheers,
Pete F.

Your post made me think we don't need the W in WVB anymore.  There is only one option for the sport at Stanford.

This is an article about Nebraska volleyball.   It states B1G only allow 6 hours/week in the weight room and 2 hours/week on the court.  IMO that keeps the team together but doesn't do much to advance their volleyball skills.

Bobbk, are there currently any PAC-12 restrictions on court time practice?   Is the team using a club gym in San Diego?

RE: WVB: Mackenzie Fidelak My Story video - BobK - 09-28-2020

Keep in mind with the jan 22 start date this is the off season. So that is normal practice. Full practice wouldn’t start until Jan 1 or so

That said players can practice more just can’t be coached

Doubt the team is indoors in San Diego. Bet it’s San Diego county and everything is outdoors
