Maybe this is Dusty’s year. I certainly hope so. He deserves a WS ring...

Would also like Dusty to get a ring. But I don’t think they can beat the Dodgers. Not enough pitching. So I’m rooting for Tampa Bay. Speaking of TB, their front office does an incredible job. I have to think that they get more value per dollar than any other MLB organization.

Yep. Being a low budget team, they had to be creative. They have embraced the concepts of the “modern game” and it has paid big dividends for them. Last night’s game was a fascinating study of baseball today (whether you like it or not). Over half the total plate appearances resulted in a K, BB or HR. Tampa showcased their amazing bullpen, platooned effectively, played solid D and hit a couple of timely HR’s.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a plan that you believe in and superior talent acquisition skills to secure the talent that matches the plan. Trading Archer to Pittsburgh for Glasnow and Meadows. Wow!
Quite frankly, after watching the game, I think I have a better understanding of what Zaidi is doing with the Giants.

As I’ve said, I think the modern game is infinitely less interesting. Cash is a guy that embraces all the metrics, but also seems to have a great feel for a game. Yesterday was going to be an all hands on deck game. Will be interesting to see how he uses his staff in ALCS.

agreed about TB front office and player development group. they do a pretty amazing job.
there was an interesting quote in the Athletic (paraphrased here and I can't recall if from an opposing scout or coach) but he was referring to the TB pen: "all tall right-handers, throw 100, have a great breaking pitch and I've never heard of any of them."
giants only spent about $10 million more than the Rays and A's combined. I know I know, "wait until '22 (may be)"

Hey, Slide: How is our old friend Rocky doing? Hope he's avoiding the Covid and the storms down there.

3 in 5. Can’t take that away. Mistakes made late. Hung on to old formula too long. But I can easily forgive that. After 2002, I never though I’d see Giants win WS. To get three was and is special.
