Stanford on the ESPN Mid Season All-America Team - Redrum - 10-12-2011

Not the usual suspect,  but a couple others.  I think the new crush on Wisc. Wilson shows just how weary the attention deficit disordered media wants to stop talking about Luck and his accomplishments.  Could be seeing Luck's Voldemort chances fading.

I think if anything the media will talk more about Luck as it gets closer to the end of the season because A) Stanford will be playing in more marquee games than just about anybody and B) NFL fan interest.

As for the AA team, nice to see Chase Thomas get some recognition.  He's the MVP of the defense, even with Skov, IMO.

The scrolling news stream on ESPN last night quoted the Colts' owner as follows:
Quote:"Guys like that come along so rarely," Irsay said of Luck, considered by many a can't-miss NFL quarterback. "Even if that means that guy sits for three or four years, you'd certainly think about taking him.

If idiot sportswriters and Voldemort voters can't, or refuse to, recognize the obvious, it just degrades their own credibility (as if that hasn't been happening for years?!?).

If Luck is drafted by the Colts and sits 3 or 4 seasons, I will not be happy.

Why? It seems like the ideal way to increase the odds of success in the NFL. Four years might be a bit much, but 1 or 2 would, I think, be perfect.

It would be worth it for a team that sucked enough to get Luck to sit him, continue to suck, and get a really nice LT the next year. Andrew would benefit from learning the offense and by having a good man watching his back.

Yeah, 1 or 2. Manning won't retire within that time period. Most likely.

I like the idea of Luck in Indy. I'd prefer SF of course, but that probably won't happen. Denver would be my ideal choice, then Seattle. I don't see Manning retiring in the next 3 seasons.

I fear he's doomed to go to somewhere REALLY bad.  Miami sounds about right.  God knows he loves a challenge - he chose Stanford in 2006 didn't he?

I hope it's someplace that runs with big tight ends.

Can you imagine the outrage of a team fanbase i they endure a year of SuckForLuck and then watch him carry a clipboard for a year? With the recent success of rookie QBs, you can bet there will be no patience for any GM or coach whose team does not start Luck very early.

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are a lot more crappy teams in the NFL this year than in years past? Or perhaps, this is the first year that really bad teams are getting a season of headlines as they jocky for position in the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes.

Between Stanford and Wisconsin, they have played one truly interesting game (Wisconsin v. Nebraska).  I think that probably has a bit to do with it as well and explains why the media wants to jump on making Wilson v. Luck more of an issue.

Oh, and the NFL bores me to tears.  I will look with some interest at Luck's first couple of NFL games, and after that, the next time I will really care about Luck is when Andrew Jr. comes to the Farm or when Andrew's firm designs the new Cowboy's stadium.

Aaron Rodgers sat on the bench for 3 years after being drafted by Green Bay. It seems like that worked out OK for him.
