Any thoughts on how this game Saturday and how it could impact Stanford?

If one of them can beat Wisconsin... :D

The only, very marginal way this might effect us at all, that I can see, is if Michigan State wins, it makes University of South Bend's victory over them look somewhat more impressive, and might figure into boosting the strength of schedule for ND; which helps when we beat the Domers at the end of the season. But pretty marginal benefit.Â

Michigan State is not passing Stanford. Michigan could. So Go State!
No one on the Spartans' team is in the running for the Voldemort. So Go State!
State plays Wisconsin next week, so it would be helpful if State has a lot to play for when they play Wisconsin.
Michigan and Michigan State played Notre Dame, so any secondary SOS for Stanford either way is really marginal.
Put that all together, and it will be better for State to win.
A State Win would also leave the "Legends" Division without an undefeated team. And that would be helpful if Stanford ultimately needs the Big Ten champion to have at least one loss.Â

Go State because, just go State.
If State beats Wisconsin after beating Michigan, that takes care of two Big10 undefeateds.
The following jump us to the MNC:Â Big12, Big10 and SEC undefeateds.Â

I come out ahead either way. If State wins, an undefeated team goes down. Yay! If the Wolverines win, two good things happen:
a) my boss--a happy man!
b) I get one step closer to winning a bet I made three years ago with a friend of mine.

Speaking of State. Go SJSU!
Stanford SOS would be helped a lot by a win from SJSU over Hawaii.
Go STATE!

Go STATE!
SJSU is ahead right now in a major turnover-fest.

Hawaii just took the lead after the 4th Spartan turnover of the 2nd half.

And SJSU just took the lead back with 36 seconds left in the game.

Very entertaining game. After Robber Baron's post, SJSU committed two
more turnovers, but also blocked two kicks (an extra point and a field goal), running the extra point back for a defensive 2-point conversion, and finally scored a touchdown on the 2-minute drill to go up 28-27 with 36 seconds left. After the kickoff, Hawaii moved the ball almost to the 40, then threw an interception on a final Hail Mary pass.
Final turnover score: Hawaii 7 - SJSU 6, not counting the two blocked kicks.

Washington State losing tomorrow would be most helpful for Stanford.

Sure, Stanford needs to win. But Washington State is not "State". They are Wazzu. Ask anyone in Washington!
Michigan State is "State". I remember going to that 1996 Sun Bowl and Michigan State fans talked to El Paso locals about "State". They went to "State". "State" had a great year. I thought it was odd to use that seemingly generic "State" term as their school name so far from home. I guess the "S" on the helmet means they aren't super proud of the Michigan part of their name. ???
But whatever, go "State". And thank you SJSU for pulling it together and finishing that Hawaii game. After my post SJSU had 4 more turnovers, but they ultimately rallied for the win so it is all good.
And the SJSU ESPN game was far more entertaining than either of the C.a.l ESPN games.

Mission accomplished! Michigan is not in the running for the BCS Title Game AND Robinson is not going to win the Voldemort. Thanks State!
Now, if they could just win NEXT week!

For all the reasons Farm93 enumerated, YES! Now, if Texas can upset Oklahoma State today, and if Oklahoma State can upset Oklahoma later this season...

The Texas thing is a much bigger deal. If Texas does not help out, the Big12 will have an undefeated team. The Big12 conference SOS is too good, so an undefeated Big12 team would be in the title game.
It wasn't that hard to cheer for "State", but it is crazy difficult to cheer for Texas.

Just cheer against Oklahoma State. I'm surprised WR Justin Blackmon isn't getting a lot of Voldemort hype--that guy is scary good.

Washington kills Colorado, which keeps their ranking legitimate when we beat them.

Utah beat Pitt, which is good for Pac-12 purposes. USC beat Cal, which is good. Hopefully Oregon State beats BYU.
Washington, USC, and Oregon are pretty legit top 25 opponents. Add Notre Dame and Arizona State to that list and if we run the table, it will be very impressive.

Bummer. Texas COULD have won this game but made a bunch of mistakes and gave the game to Oklahoma State.
