OT: Spartans! - Phogge - 11-03-2020

Some of the best games in the 80's and 90's were with SJS. They are 2-0 with a grad transfer QB who may better than Garbers and Mills. Time to put them back on the schedule.

Wasn't the issue SJSU's demand that Stanford visit SJ once out of every three years? And Stanford demanded that the game always be played at Stanford?

In any case, I agree that the Bill Walsh Legacy Game should be resumed on an annual basis. There would be no need to play William & Mary, Colgate, Cal Poly SLO, Sac State, etc.

I've always supported the SJSU game.  Makes zero sense that it doesn't happen.

I think part of the issue is that SJSU depends on body bag game checks, and Stanford's guarantee to them was absurdly low, something like $80k last time they played.

I thought part of the issue was when SJS dropped us at  the last minute for a lucrative body bag game with Alabama in 2010. We had to pick up a game against Sact State as a replacement, and that pretty much pissed off the establishment.

That is how I remember it.
