The PAC-12 apologizes for a testing protocol error by its game day testing partner that resulted in 6 days of quarantine for these poor guys. I read separately that Davis Mills had the positive test and the other guys were traced to him.
So let me get this straight. We have about 150 players and staff, and the one guy that tests positive is our starting QB. Who is the game day testing partner at Oregon, Nike?! The Duck?!

I am the farthest thing from a conspiracy theorist but I am led to wonder if this is the league's attempt to insure that what figures to be its best team gets into the CFP? FU, Larry!

Not only was the game vs. Oregon affected, but Mills and Wedington haven't practiced all week, which I'm sure will negatively affect the team's performance vs. Colorado.
CowboyIndian, if you don't like conspiracy theories, there's always superstition. Today is Friday the 13th.

Who was the fourth player? My theory is Osiris St. Brown, who also didn't play vs. Oregon. (Tough to win any game when your stud QB and 2 of your top 4 WRs are out.)
The good news is Mills and Wedington were taking all the starting practice reps before Oregon, as we found out they wouldn't play just hours before the game. So at worst we're talking just a week of rust, almost like coming back from a minor injury. Shouldn't take long to shake it off against a Colorado defense that gave up 45 points to UCLA of all teams.

Excuse me but what is a “testing procedural error”. Is that like switching samples? Reminds me of the whizzinator.

lex24, this FDA link might provide some information that you seek:
https://tinyurl.com/yxlovqq8
Per the FDA letter, false positives can occur if Antigen testing instructions are not followed.
Quote:For example, the package insert for tests include instructions for handling of the test cartridge/card, such as ensuring it is not stored open prior to use. If the test components are not stored properly, this can affect the performance of the test.
The package insert for tests also includes instructions about reading the test results, including the appropriate time to read the results. Reading the test before or after the specified time could result in false positive or false negative results.
There's more, but you get the idea. Since the Pac-12 actually issued an apology, it sure sounds like the test administrator screwed up...with Davis Mills's test.

Hope Mills is practicing those treacherous things called handoffs.

All positive test results should be repeated to insure accuracy. This is BS.

I would rather they be safe than sorry.

Theoretically, yes, but if you had just spent 6 days in quarantine unnecessarily while returning a series of negative PCR tests throughout, you might feel differently.

"testing protocol errors that resulted in inconclusive COVID-19 test results"
That's not just a false positive or being cautious. Somebody screwed up.

Right, I was gonna say the same thing. If it were just a false positive, an apology would not have been necessary.

Larry Scott isn't smart enough to conspire to do this. Much more likely another f'up

What do you expect from a mid-major conference?
