UDub prediction? - Phogge - 12-04-2020

Don’t see a thread.

RE: UDub prediction? - Papa John - 12-04-2020

I see a thread, you just started it. So what's your prediction, Phogge?

The scoring averages says Huskies 31, Cardinal 23. I'm going with Stanford 31, Huskies 23.

RE: UDub prediction? - BobK - 12-04-2020

So agree Papa John except 31-20 Stanford

RE: UDub prediction? - MVDan - 12-04-2020

Stanford 21-Washington 20 on a blocked extra point.

RE: UDub prediction? - cardcrimson - 12-04-2020

Sunny skies.

30-17 UDub, on a blocked extra point.

RE: UDub prediction? - Phogge - 12-04-2020

Well Elway, Dott, Dressel and V Dub are too old so I have to go with Sgt. Preston's dog 27, Stan Musial's Cardinal 17.

lex24 - lex24 - 12-04-2020

41-27 UW.

RE: UDub prediction? - JustAnotherFan - 12-04-2020

Hate to be that guy but ...
Washington 35
Stanford 10

This sounds about right.
Maybe if they play the whole game the way they played in the first half against Utah we stand a chance.

RE: UDub prediction? - bbm233 - 12-04-2020

Dawgs 35, Trees 14

We rarely win at Husky Stadium.

No traditional edge for UW at home this year. QB isn't a runner but he's not facing a juggernaut defense. Or even a good one. Key for Stanford is to 1) make this kid Morris beat them with his arm, 2) get Mills to deliver his best effort as a collegian and 3) make the kind of Special Teams' plays we saw a week ago. If all of this happens, it's anybody's game -- something reminiscent of the theft in Eugene, 2018. My confidence in ShawVita being what it is, I pick Huskies to find a way to win, 31-20.

RE: UDub prediction? - winflop - 12-04-2020

My only prediction is that the game is actually played and completed.

RE: UDub prediction? - Snorlax94 - 12-04-2020

A major question for me is to what degree will the move this week — practicing at high schools in Washington — impact the team?

It seems hard to imagine it won’t have a major impact. Stanford won’t have the facilities to watch tape, meet, plan, get treatment, work out with their familiar equipment, see many of the trainers they normally do.

I would be glad to be proved wrong but sadly I see UW 45-17, and even that with some scoring in garbage time.

My loyal prediction:

Stanford wins!

Score 28 - 27

RE: UDub prediction? - CardinalSagehen - 12-04-2020

I'm logically expecting a drubbing, but I expected that last year and then Davis Mills and our ragtag OL went to town.  Objectively, according to point spreads, this year's team is less of an underdog vs. UW than last year's team.

UW has barely eked out wins against ORST and Utah, with the former involving a critically bad call by the officials at the end of the game and the latter involving a last-minute TD to cap 24 unanswered points. No team is a dominant, worthy North Division champion this year. Parity rules.

I would like to see Davis Mills set the tone in the first quarter with a couple designed keepers, which generated a couple nice gains for first downs early in last year's game. UW will probably be ready for it this time, but this requires them to open up other things for us...

More generally, a QB that is a threat to run can cover up a multitude of evils in offensive scheme and execution - see Kevin Hogan circa 2012-2015.  Mills is not the kind of runner that Hogan was, but he's got wheels - it's college football, so you gotta let him loose!

Logic and reason aside, I always pick Stanford to win...
STANFORD 27, WASHINGTON 24

The predictions widget is down, right?

RE: UDub prediction? - ADPinWDC - 12-04-2020

Major disruptions this week on practice, and then a road trip to Seattle in DECEMBER.  Though the weather will be fine, sunny.
Huskies in a short season still have the best defense in Pac-12 (Yards, Points against).  This won't be a track meet.
I don't like that matchup against our middling Offense with lousy 3rd D conversion:  just 17 of 46.
And our Red Zone offensive calls are mystifying. 8 TDs from 13 trips inside the RZ just ain't enough attempts.
If our O-Line gels, then we have a chance, but coming from behind will be a steep climb in 2H.
I think UW blitzes until they get burned, so Mills needs to release quickly.  UW will be very aggressive.

Pooches 27, Tree Bark 17.

RE: UDub prediction? - pefloresjr - 12-04-2020

Mighty Sequoias 27
Huskerdoodles 24

On a blocked field goal attempt to tie at the end of the game.  I don't care what I think, I won't predict against the Trees.

Cheers,
Pete F.
