Other Pac-12 Games Today (12/12) - martyup - 12-12-2020

Are we hoping Utah beats Colorado?  Would that put UW in the CCG?

Right now UT leads in the 4th Q.

UW has "won" the North by losing to Stanford, not playing Cal or Oregon, and playing no road game.

USC got to play two games before the team that might beat Colorado and allow USC to "win" the South as a result.

I've already documented how Stanford has been screwed with the phony Mills test result. The whole idea of a Pac-12 "champion" this year is completely outrageous.

Cal football game cancelled because of a confirmed positive COVID case on the team.

53 scholarship rule.  Does any other conference have that rule?

FWIW, not the 53 scholarship rule. Cal would have only 2 DL available for the game, below the "allowed" limit of 4. I sure as hell wouldn't play the game with only 2 DL.

The SEC has the 53 scholarship rule too, as does the Big 12. Less than 53 means you don't have to play. Mississippi State opted to play anyway with 48ish.

WSU and ASU end the regular season with only 3 games played. In the Big 10, 3 teams also missed 3 games, but that left them with 5 games played. Three Big 10 teams played all 8 scheduled games.

The cancellation blew a hole in a prime slot on FOX. KTVU is broadcasting an infomercial for Slimcycle.

Now that Colorado has lost to Utah, will UW be slated to play USC in the CCG?

By the way, previously winless ASU beat winless Arizona 70-7.  Yikes!

Cougar coach Nick Rolovich told an interviewer that he told Wilcox that the teams should have a snowball fight.

How about Stanford at UCLA for one of the cross-division games?

Arizona was also winless and is now 0-5. ASU has only 2 losses.

Sumlin hasn’t exactly turned around that program.....

In fact, he just got fired! $7.5M buyout. Sheesh.

Cause I’m sure ASU had $7.5 million laying around in its couch cushions...

ASU should've stopped running up the score. I'm sure they would've loved Arizona keeping Sumlin around.

UA kept giving them the ball back, seven times in all. I was surprised ASU passes the ball after it was 56-7, but they didn't when it was 63-7.

In fact, Arizona desperately DIDN'T want to fire Sumlin because their coffers are very empty. The would have kept him if he had just lost the game somewhat respectably. However, after that thrashing they had no choice. Where the money is going to come from is anybodies guess. ASU really did do themselves a disservice.

UPDATE: As I hear it, the plan was to fire Sumlin in January, because then the payout would drop to $5 million and the AD had lined up that money. However, supposedly at Halftime two big donors promised $1.25 million each to fire him immediately (and to remove their future support if it was not done immediately). That forced the issue, to say the least.

Man I really wouldn't have minded seeing UCLA beat USC.  It's not like SC was going to the playoffs anyways, and any day USC loses is a good day.

Much more entertaining than SU vs OSU.

Why?  In our game, both teams had over 400 yards of offense.   The lead changed several times.  It came down to a final forced fumble with 25 seconds remaining with the Beavs in chip shot FG range to tie the game.  Our QB was 21-29 passing with just under 300 yards.  We outscored them 11-3 in the 4th Q.  To me, that's entertainment.
