Oscar Da Silva's dunk - burger - 12-20-2020

If you missed the men's basketball game yesterday, then you missed the best dunk by a Stanford player since maybe Mark Madsen in the elite 8:

Early on, the refs were hardly calling anything.  They brought out the whistles later.

Such a great game. I enjoyed the FB win, too, don't get me wrong, but beating Arizona was much higher on my list. Been waiting for over a decade.

The second clip, in particular, really shows ZW's enthusiasm for the game and his 'mates. He's much more of a team player than I associate with one-and-doners. That's probably reflected in his stats, too. Yesterday he made some great assists, and then there was that charge-drawing defensive stand he made at the end that sealed the victory. That was one for the ages, the way he set up perfectly and forced the ref to blow the whistle in a situation when refs are typically loath to do so. Great moment.

There's been talk back and forth on the likelihood of ZW staying for another year. Just maybe he likes playing with these guys enough that he contemplates coming back for a full and proper season, which this one surely won't be. Just maybe, too, he wants to experience being a Stanford student in a somewhat more normal context. We'll see.

Bottom line, this is a hard-working, athletic, team-minded group that's much fun to watch.

Agreed, but in the second video, it was pretty blatant that Da Silva had his arm hacked.  It was a bad no call.
