Can we get rid of self-imposed bans already? These are almost always conveniently timed to coincide with a down(ish) year for the program in question and are really just a ploy to win favor with the NCAA. Just let the NCAA decide how to apply the rules--that's what they're (theoretically) there for.

It is really sad IMHO when we see any University being hit with sanctions. In this case, it is unclear to me how much "lack of institutional control" was the problem and how much was just some really bad people exploiting athletes in order to make money.
