PAC 12 Champion crushed by Big 12 runner up -

When any organization fails as badly as PAC 12 is failing now, you change leadership and strategy. Eventually, you can’t recite decade old history, winning the directors cup and inclusiveness as reasons to argue that you are still relevant. Am I wrong ? If so why? If not, what do we do?
34-17 and it wasn’t that close. Can’t remember a men’s basketball team with a shot at national title. On the other hand, women’s teams doing pretty well. So not all dark. But more and more the PAC 12 seems closer to the America conference than the Big 10, Big 12, SEC or ACC. Maybe that’s good enough. We are better than the Ivy League.

Embarrassed to admit, don't even know the game you're referencing. . . .
That said, the Pac-12 is indeed a total embarrassment. Thanks Larry!

ISU's recruiting rankings over the last 5 years range from mid 40's to mid 50's. Great example of coaching and player development.

Iowa State has 16 varsity sports. Stanford will still have 25 after cutting 11.
Sometimes there are benefits to focus.
I would guess the Pac-12 execs will make a change, but I don't think they will emulate the SEC.
The ACC just hired the Northwestern AD as its new commissioner. It will be interesting to see what changes he makes there. Given his 12 years at Northwestern, I don't think he will go all SEC. Something for the Pac-12 to watch.

Great idea. Lets get rid of all sports except football and hoops. Focus! Student athletes be damned!

I would not site ISU as a guiding example. They have had a wonderful season, but before 2020, their record the last few years were:
2019: 7-6
2018: 8-5
2017: 8-5
2016: 3-9
2015: 3-9
2014: 2-10
2013: 3-9
2012: 6-7
2011: 6-7
2010: 5-7
2009: 7-6
Basically, Stanford has had a better record than Iowa State every year expect 2019 and this year going back over 10 years.

Why is this a Stanford discussion? Oregon was the team that was crushed, and before them, Colorado.

The PAC 12 Network should diversify. They could start by giving Bill Walton a talk show. His guests should include the best shrinks in the country. Or it could be a reality show starring Bill and whoever is left from the Dead sharing a house together. Anything to get him off ESPN.

Luke should hire him as an assistant.

I watched the game last night. It was my first time listening to Walton in years. It was much, much worse than I expected even after all the complaints here. The other guys seemed to be openly mocking him, as though they were fed up at how ridiculous it was to give that guy a mic.
What a trainwreck.
