WBB: One more year? - Hulk01 - 01-16-2021

So; will the Hulls come back for a fifth year?

Any word on Maya Dodson?

Jenna Brown?

RE: WBB: One more year? - BobK - 01-16-2021

Jenna Brown yes. She’s recovering from a knee operation. Tara in the previous zoom said she’ll be back
I have read that Dodson plans to come back not sure where. But recently

The Hulls are Jrs. Lol

RE: WBB: One more year? - Hulk01 - 01-16-2021

Agree that anything on the Hulls would be speculative.
They might not even have thought about it.

And Kiana next year?

RE: WBB: One more year? - BobK - 01-16-2021

Great questions.
We have 12 now, we could have 6 coming in
Counting Brown and Dodson. So that’s 18 with the current 3 Srs leaving or not

Going to be interesting

Of course if the Hulls come back 22-23 the 15 scholarship limit will be back

Even for 2021-22 where the NCAA is relaxing the limit, there's a question of where the money would come from. I understand Stanford has 15 fully endowed WBB scholarships. To fund more than 15 for 2021-22 would take a chunk of AD budget or extra donations from somewhere.

Also, it would be quite a logjam with so many players, all talented enough that they ought to see court time and development time in practice.

Actually there are a number of athletes who hope to use their extra year right now. 5 in softball for instance, several in track. Of course these are partial scholarship sports.

For full scholarship sports 2 in women’s tennis

Seems to me that the "logjam" will be a consideration for some -- could be a real problem, just too much talent and not enough minutes available to players who really deserve to be in the game

RE: WBB: One more year? - Hulk01 - 01-16-2021

I am influenced by my Stanford experience.
I took a fifth year.
I felt there was more that Stanford offered that I had not experienced--
some of it social, actually.

I would consider "this year" at Stanford a lost year, a non counter.
Perhaps one or more of these players will thank that,

Kiana returning next year would be The Big One, of course.
Jana Van G taking over for Anna seems obvious enough,
but there is no Kiana II waiting in the wings.

I thought this thread was pontificating whether the next would be Tara's last year. . . .
