I didn't realize so many games were cancelled this week. I hope the Stanford team doesn't start socializing back on campus to make up for lost time.

I would like to see the other contending teams reschedule postponements. Sooner, rather than later.
Primarily UCLA, Arizona, and Oregon.

NC State leading late against Louisville.
The Wolfpack had dropped 2 spots after their loss to VA Tech, but UConn remained at the same ranking despite the loss to Arkansas
We stayed at #6
Also Haley and Kiana on the Wooden watch list

I don't know why I continue to be amazed at the UConn bias in WBB, but not losing a single spot in the rankings despite losing to a team 16 spots below you? Really?
We dropped one spot when losing to a team one slot below us, and dropped 4 slots when losing to unranked Colorado.
By the way, the NET rankings, which might wind up looking a lot like the final four this year:
1) Stanford
2) UConn
3) S Carolina
4) Oregon

Charlie Creme's latest bracketology still has Stanford as a 2 -- in same region where UConn is the 1. Bring it on!

Wow, Notre Dame is where Stanford wbball graduate transfers go, don't they? 3 in the last half decade-ish, right? Thompson, Sniezek and now Dodson

I think that Colorado loss really hurts us. UCLA is a top team, but Colorado has lost both of their games since their win over us and you can argue is the worst (if not the worst, there with the LSU loss by Texas A&M and the VA Tech loss by NC State and those two teams at least have winning records) defeat (record-wise of the underdog team) of a Top-10 team.

What is it about ND that attracts so many of our transfers? Dodson will always be on my list of players who tantalized with talent but never really put it together at Stanford. She played a hair more than two seasons and never reached her potential due to injuries.
I will root for her success. I hope she enjoys her time at ND, gets to play a lot, and plays well (just not against Stanford). I also wish we would not play this game with transfers where players say how much they want to be near home, yada yada, and then they pick a place nowhere near home. No need to make a transfer seem somehow noble. The player is doing what she feels is best for herself, ok, cool beans. We fans can take it.

Well, a home at Notre Dame, but it now appears that being able to play close to her family home was not a factor

This is all a moving target. After U Conn and NC St both lost last week, Creme tweeted that the impact on the bracketology was that UConn remained a 1 but NC State dropped to a 2, and Stanford moved up to a 1. I think that what happened in Creme's calculation was that after NC State beat Louisville yesterday, he had to move NC State back up to a 1, so he dropped Stanford back to a 2 -- with Louisville remaining a 1.
It's interesting that Louisville remains a 1. Yes, their loss was to the then #4 team, so that's not bad, but not only did they lose big, they don't have a single win against a top 10 team. Their best wins are against then #20 DePaul and then #23 Syracuse. As for UConn, their best wins are 2 over DePaul (when #20 and #17) and #25 Tennessee, a game that was close (67-61). And they lost to #19 Arkansas. Now, compare that to Stanford, with wins over 3 top 10 (or were in top 10 at the time) teams -- Arizona, Oregon, UCLA. And a loss to then #5. I agree with the comment that the loss to Colorado is really influencing how people see Stanford.
I, for one, think that the Card has been really tested by the forever road trip and it's affected their play. That comment by Tara that they couldn't practice much is really telling. I'm hoping we see a transformed team once they've had some time back at Maples -- won't be right away, but I think it's a real possibility. And then watch out!
RE: WBB: Results of the Week - Softball Fan - 02-02-2021
I don't think it makes too much difference whether Stanford is a 1 or 2 seed. Is there a team that Stanford absolutely doesn't want to be matched up against? If not, why would 1 or 2 make all that much difference? IMO Stanford matches up better against UConn than some of other teams.

I think it would be a slightly more difficult regional semifinal matchup, a #3 seed as opposed to a #4 seed, but it depends on the school.
But if my memory serves me correctly, we almost always get a #2 seed rather than a #1 seed in the last ten years. Also, this year, it probably won't matter, since the tournament will probably be in the same place, but historically a top seed would send us closer to home rather than cross country to a more hostile location for a regional semis or finals.
But Creme points out, the Colorado loss looms large. It seems a bad loss counts more than the number of quality wins.
RE: WBB: Results of the Week -
chimera - 02-02-2021
I've always thought the bad loss matters more than quality wins idea can be a problem when they use that for seeding. I would seed a team with 3 top 15 wins and one loss to a decent but not really good conference team higher than a team with no top 15 wins and no losses or a team with no top 15 wins and a loss to a 15-25ish ranked team. I would generally much prefer to face the team with the no top 15 wins than the one with three and a "bad" loss. Playing one poor game against a team that got hot and losing is less indicative of quality than beating several top teams. The polls get all messed up when they turn into who losses the least only. Who has UConn beaten? Even with the CO loss, we should be ahead of them. I do agree this year it doesn't matter a whole lot the seeding. Match-ups matter more, and of course good health, and in Stanford's case, the ability to practice like they want to and improve.
