Any thought on how good we are supposed to be?  Like UCLA has a good reputation, so a 4-0 game strikes me as a pretty good sign.

We are the number 3 team in the country. UCLA is not good this season, they are 1-3-1.

Historically, UCLA is a big name in men's soccer and lead the overall series against us by quite a bit. But they have fallen behind us in the Jeremy Gunn era. We have won the last nine games (including today).

The other top teams in the conference are Oregon State and Washington which coincidentally are the next 2 opponents.

RE: MSoc: STAN 4 UCLA 0 - BACardinal - 03-07-2021

We've always had a great backline and this year is no different with Tingey and Hughes anchoring the defense. The problem with this team has always been the offensive fire power which is what really hurt us in the tournament last year. Games are always a slugfest and grinding out a 1-0 win is typical and in the tournament it's usually pk's. So, to see this team get a 4-0 win against any team is great and hope that the goals keep coming.

Side note: the first couple of games I was wondering why Charlie Wehan wasn't starting (I think he's started one game this year) but after seeing the energy he brought tonight off the bench in the second half was amazing and hope he continues in that roll. He had an assist and goal! Also, Agostinelli is superb in the midfield. His technical ability and great vision/passing are something I'm really excited for. Hopefully he and Bouda can create a great connection in the future.

RE: MSoc: STAN 4 UCLA 0 - martyup - 03-07-2021

In the short portion of the match that I watched Agostinelli was impressive.  He won almost every one-on-one battle for the ball and was able to dribble by defenders with ease.

Bouda has not played at all this year. He *is* listed on the roster. Any idea what might be going on?

Re Bouda, Troy Clardy mentioned during the game that he was injured.  The hope is that he will be back for the second half of the season.  No further details were provided.

RE: MSOC: STAN 3 ORST 2 - PVTree - 03-14-2021

I watched the game, and it was very entertaining. They scored 2 goals very close to each other, but we had the fortune to tie it up before halftime. The River Rodents had complaints about each of our two goals, but they stood.

The winning goal was a thing of beauty after a turnover by one of their defenders. I thought Stanford dominated for around 60 minutes while OSU controlled the ball for around 20 minutes. Their goalie made various great saves or we could have scored 5-6 goals. Our goalie stopped 1-2 shots that could easily have been goals. I thought we looked like the better team.
