Pitchers' duel so far. 1-0 Anteaters, top of the 6th.
And the Cardinal finally break through. First, what looked like a favorable call at first to award Troy a base hit, then a double by Tawa to bring Troy home. UCI pitcher looks like he is finally rattled a bit.
1-1, top of the 7th.
The offense got cooking in the 7th with four runs. And a nice little gem of a game from Quinn Mathews : 8 innings. 1 ER, 4 hits and 6 SO. Stanford wins the first game today, 6-1.

Saturday's first game is a 6-1 win for Stanford. The Cardinal scored 4 runs in the 7th to break a 1-1 tie. Well done!

Now we're down 1-5 in the 7th in the afternoon game.

UCI wins 5-1. We were only outhit 6-5, but we gave up 5 walks (walked in two runs - ouch) and a HBP. Oh well. Still took three out of four. The offense looks great overall and we had some good pitching performances as well. Defense is solid, too.

Another win this one 8-6. One run 8 innings pitching by Prancer and Grech. In between not so good
Stanford is now 10-2

I gotta think that if/when we get back some of our injured pitchers - particularly Alex Williams - this team can be very, very good.

I gotta think that if/when we get back some of our injured pitchers - particularly Alex Williams - this team can be very, very good.
Take a look at stats: Three pitchers with an era below 2, plus workhorse Beck who is at 4. EVERYONE ELSE -- 8 pitchers -- has an ERA between 8 and 16. We will not be able to sustain our success rate unless we start getting better efforts from some of those eight.

Exactly. Or, if we're lucky, we get some of the injured back. That would solve the problem, though I don't know how many - if any - will be back.
