We've probably hit peak viewership for football. I have a feeling they are trying to extract all they can from the golden goose, but for players it means increased risk.

Someday the NFL is going to greatly expand the draft and force rookie-2nd year players to play 8-10 highly televised spring football games because the networks/cable/content platforms are desparate for content and will pay quite a bit. And one or two ppl would watch...

I dislike the move to 17. I remember disliking the move to 16 back in the day... Getting to 1000 yards rushing now meant averaging 63 yards a game. Now that will be lowered to 59 yards per game. 5000 yards passing will now be achieved averaging less than 300 yards per game. More chances for player injury...etc.
Don't like it and doesn't see it as an improvement. The NFL going in the wrong direction... Especially with taking some games off today's available channels.

Just sucks - Especially in an age where we know more about the impact of concussions and CTE. Is the Players union asleep at the wheel? Why would a player like Andrew Luck continue to play in the NFL .... Oh, nevermind.

Fortunately, we live in a country where no one is required to play NFL football, even those who go to college on a football scholarship. They can get their degrees, hang up the cleats, go to work in any number of other jobs with virtually no risk of concussions or CTE, and choose not to pursue the opportunity to make millions of dollars playing professional football. Totally their choice.
