Mark Trakh is retiring.

Did not see that coming.

Call me somewhat surprised by this announcement. I would think this will be a sought after job as USC does have some returning talent and two top 30 recruits coming in. Does USC already have a replacement picked out? Are they willing to spend and invest in their women's program? Also remember, Kate Paye interviewed for the USC job in 2017 that ultimately went to Trakh.

Aarika Hughes just left usc To be the Head coach at Loyola Marymount so the timing is very strange
I hope usc doesn’t hire another Cooper like they did twice before

Agree, the timing does seem strange. And I have to wonder why he's retiring. So many coaching changes this year!

i have always liked mark trakh. seems like a good guy. he seems ageless on court, but he is 65 years old, about to turn 66. maybe all the traveling gets a bit much.

In other coaching news, there's rumblings that Kim Mulkey is leaving Baylor for Louisiana State. If true, that's a major shift in the landscape.

The twitterverse seems to think so.
As a reminder, Mulkey was a player at LaTech, so LSU is a bit of a homecoming, and her son played baseball at LSU.

Perhaps it's because they know Stanford is back to dominating the Pac12, and they'd rather take their chances elsewhere. :)

now that we have won the national championship in 2021, i feel kinda bad for oregon that they didn't get their chance as heavy favorites in 2020. they had a great team.

I feel the same way. I really wanted to see them win it all.

agree with the comments on feeling sorry for Oregon to not have the chance in 2020. On these guards, looks like Xavier Lopez worked with the guards and has accompanied Mark Campbell to Sac State. So perhaps it's not that Kelly Graves is an amazing guard coach (Vandersloot) but that his staff members are/were strong and have their own appeal...

First it was Destiny Slocum and now Taylor Mikesell. Three schools each. To me, that gets ridiculous. One-and-done was bad, but now we have one-and-one-and-one and done.
