Stanford ends +5 for the day, currently in a tie for second (with UCLA, which is still on the course).  4 teams within 2 strokes of each other, with everyone chasing -1 USC.

Absolutely terrible finish or they'd be in the lead: +11 on 16 thru 18. +7 for the scores that counted.

RE: WGolf Pac-12 championships - winflop - 04-23-2021

I was out there today as a walking scorer. Some ridiculously tough pin positions - especially 17 and 18 - and the wind came up a bit on the back nine.

+8 on the last 4 holes for the four players whose scores counted today. Coach Walker was not happy with how her team finished, and I overheard her telling the team exactly that after they had all finished, but also reminding them that this was Day 1 not Day 3 and that tomorrow they have a chance to finish stronger and take over first place.

One of the girls in the group I walked with shot a 46 on the back nine. I felt bad for her during the round, but she's a Weenie so I didn't feel THAT bad :P

UCLA wound up dropping a stroke, so we ended the day in sole possession of second, 6 strokes behind USC.  Tough ending, but as winflop mentions, it's day 1 of 3, and a 6 stroke difference is not insurmountable.

A six-stroke lead with 36 holes left to play is miniscule. I'll be out there again today, walking with AZ and ASU. I expect our ladies to play much better today.

I expect SC, Stanford, and ASU to break from the pack today.

RE: WGolf Pac-12 championships - Spiny_Norman - 04-24-2021

No one really made a move today. USC still leads after 36 holes. ASU is 4 shots back, Stanford is 5 shots back in 3rd. Arizona is 6 shots back. Any of those teams could win.

Rachel Heck shot 69 to lead the Cardinal. She is in 2nd in the individual race, 1 shot behind UCLA's Emma Spitz.

After yesterday's debacle losing 7 shots to par over 16, 17 and 18 among counting scores, Stanford played those 3 holes today even par.

Stanford had its opportunities, but not enough players played well enough to make a dent in the lead. The four players whose scores counted today were +3 on the back nine (-1 on the front nine).

They are still within striking distance but they're gonna need at least three players even or better tomorrow to win it.

RE: WGolf Pac-12 championships - BobK - 04-25-2021

Stanford is minus 9 so far today. But still 3 back of USC and 3 ahead of ASU
Ye is minus 4 and Heck minus 3

RE: WGolf Pac-12 championships - martyup - 04-25-2021

Heck takes the individual win at seven under for the tourney.  Stanford ends up second, 5 strokes behind the Toejams. Ye ties for 7th at -2. Seay +8 (17th), Krauter +9 (20th), and Englemann +15 (36th)

RE: WGolf Pac-12 championships - winflop - 04-25-2021

Heck ended up winning the individual title going away when the player leading after Saturday imploded on the back nine today with a 42 (+6). One of the U$C players rallied to get within 2 but realistically it was over when Heck posted -7.

Team played better today but overall not well enough. Heck and Angie Le played well enough but the rest will be disappointed with their performances.

Gonna need at least one of Seay, Engelman, and Krauter to step up at Regionals and especially at Nationals if they are going to contend. Thankfully we host regionals.

I'm humbled by how tough our course is playing. Only one of 10 teams finished under par and only 8 of 53 players did.

There were only 10 teams because Utah doesn't have a women's golf team and Wazzu was only able to field 3 players due to injuries (not COVID).
