I think the 11 cut teams are trying to troll the athletics department by winning. Field hockey won the America East tournament and got an automatic berth to the championship.

We play Miami of Ohio on Friday for the right to go up against #1 seed North Carolina.

Stanford has split its last two tournament matchups against Miami of Ohio, beating the RedHawks in 2019 3-1 before falling to top-seeded North Carolina.

Stanford is definitely best in the West for field hockey.
The problem has been that it is close to the only school in the West. And even in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast field hockey is not really a sport watched by many.
As Stanford has students from all over the USA, Stanford should be best in the West as long as this is an East Coast sport.
So ironically, the sport might only have had a chance if Stanford was routinely struggling to beat multiple West Coast schools that were attracting nationally competitive West Coast HS field hockey types.

That's alot of goals for one FH game. Not sure we have ever seen that in the national tournament ever.

An improvement over last tournament's exit, 0-4 against the same top-seeded North Carolina team. Too bad it looks like our team won't get another chance.

I will miss field hockey. Pre Covid I sometimes watched them practicing or playing on my way to and from Maples for WBB games. It is a pretty interesting game to watch.
