Link to the article is in the tweet.  Some important points:

* the Pac-12 presidents are considering splitting the job into two roles, a sports business specialist who would be the official commissioner and a co-comissioner who would work with as a liaison to the ADs

* Brooks' interest is unknown

* Brooks has never worked in college sports

* "They don't know what to do," one source said. "But there is a lot of pressure on the presidents to get someone for the campuses." (this sounds ominous)

* No-one liked Scott's management style (no duh!), largely for placing his own needs above those of the ADs (which is why there would be an interest in a co-comissioner who could be a liaison to ADs)

They'd have a much easier job if they simply spun off the network and hired someone to be just a conference commissioner and not a hybrid commissioner/media mogul

Not sure this kind of split makes any sense.

This observation seems clear to the casual observer as well.

from the end of the article

Quote:However, the Pac-12’s lagging revenue has created a desperate need for cash — hence the interest in hiring a commissioner who can generate revenue effectively and maximize the Pac-12’s value in the upcoming media rights negotiations.

“That’s fine,” a source said, “but what’s an expert in TV going to be doing for the eight years after the deal is in place?”
