Hello from Boulder - davidjwalsh - 06-16-2010

Afternoon guys wanted to stop by introduce my self and express how much CU and our fans are looking forward to playing in the Pac-10(12). If any of you have CU specific questions fell free to ask or stop by our board, or ask a way any time I am around.

Hi there!  While many here are not happy with the traditional Pac-10 scheduling being broken up and divisions being formed, I am at least in part excited for some change.  Looking forward to playing you every other year.  Your stadium looks beautiful, by the way.  Welcome to the Pac!

While it remains to be seen whether or not the move benefits Stanford, it will certainly be fun to play Colorado and (apparently) Utah on a regular basis.

Absinthe, welcome to the Pac-plus :)  I think it\'ll be a better fit for CU than the Big12 (I live in Austin), and hopefully your addition will be a mutually beneficial relationship between the conference and CU.

So who *is* your natural rival school?  CSU is MWC aren\'t they?

Re: Hello from Boulder - Extra Point - 06-17-2010

How often do you play in your stadium with snow on the field?

How long doe it take for visiting teams to adjust to the altitude in Boulder?

Do kickers have a significant advantage in the higher altitude?

How has your football recruiting been lately?

What can we  expect from you basketball team?

When will you begin Pac 12 play?

Have you heard any reports about the game rotations in football?

Welcome aboard. I am looking forward to all of this.

Utah used to our rival until 1962 when for some reason we stopped playing them (we lead the series 31-24). Nebraska has been our fiercest rival over the past 30 or so years, and we\'ll be sad to see that go by the way-side.  The CSU Lambs on the other hand just think they are our rival, are for the most part unconcerned with them (barring every 6th game or so when they beat us).

-We rarely play a game when it is actually snowing in boulder although at least one game a year there will have been snow and it will be piled up on the sidelines.  Colorado weather varies greatly in the fall and any snow no matter how deep is unlikely to stick around for more than a few  days.

-The altitude takes a couple of days to adjust to for normal activity athletes are in much better shape so it has less of an effect.  That said we almost ran Kansas out of the gym last year, so late in a long game it can get to people.

-Boulder is a kickers (and golfers) paradise, figure 8-10% more distance for no change in effort.

-Our recruiting fell of a cliff last year and hasn\'t recovered, it likely wont until Danny boy is gone. We do recruit a lot of the same players Stanford does though, so that bodes well for you.

-Our basketball team has a new coach, and 2 projected NBA draft picks, both will be gone after next season.  The new coach likes to run and we have no big men so expect an uptempo high scoring team that wins with little consistency.

-on the Pac12/game rotation stuff it is still up in the air.  We dont know for sure if we\'ll be out of the big12 come 2011 so we haven\'t looked much at the game rotations.
