Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - BobK - 07-05-2021

This per BA.  They went 500 deep.  Draft is July 11-13

Place in draft and the probable round

84-3.  Brandan Beck
86-3.  Recruit Braden Montgomery
331-10. Tim Tawa
333-10. Nick Brueser
382-12. Christian Robinson
476–15. Alex Williams

For a team with good upperclass players than made the World Series shocking to me that maybe only one player in the first 9 rounds

If Montgomery enrolls, Stanford might be CWS bound again next year.

I predict three Cardinal players in the top 10 rounds.

What position does Montgomery play?

Pro teams view him as a switch hitting centerfielder. He has a strong arm and pitched in high school but at the most recent showcase events he's chosen not to pitch and to take part exclusively as a position player.

That's terrific... Hopefully he come to the Farm and becomes as good as Jeffrey Hammonds.

pretty good 20-21 season:  .535 BA, 7 HRs, 55 RBIs and 46 runs scored.  particularly good as a catcher.

Bobbk and Phogge will be by shortly with his pop times.

This is just the beginning of Esquer getting anyone and everyone he wants from this point forward. 9's retirement compromised the recruiting for the Class of 2022, but it's full steam ahead! Go Card!

Bobbbb’s pop times were back in the jitterbug era. I was there at the beginning of rock and roll with the Comets and Bill Haley. Bobbb’s gang wore slacks and wingtips. My crew had rolled up Levi’s and cig packs tucked into their undershirt arms. We had our own piece of the bleachers at 16th and Bryant and never let any Sacto hicks near us.

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - BobK - 07-12-2021

Well truth is I didn’t wear jeans until I was about 16. Khaki pants. Plus in SF for the 1952-53 seasons.

You are funny but Bill Haley rocked around the clock

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - chrisk - 07-12-2021

Brendan Beck picked 55th by the Yankees.

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - BobK - 07-12-2021

Good for Beck higher than anticpated.

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - DC 86 - 07-12-2021

They are done with the fifth round and Braden Montgomery has not been selected, which is very big for Stanford. There are no certainties (and multiple teams went underslot early) but if he had a number he was willing to sign for (and a team willing to meet it) he probably would have been drafted at this point.

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - BobK - 07-12-2021

Thanks DC. Yes excellent news on Montgomery

RE: Stanford possibles in the MLB Draft - BobK - 07-12-2021

Now thru 10 rounds abd only Beck drafted.
I didn’t see our Montgomery

Giants took nine straight pitchers last time I looked.
