New prayer group forming - Redrum - 06-18-2010

This group will meet once a week on the astral plane to think good thoughts about Rich Rodriguez and U. Michigan.   As someone had the good sense to point out in the middle of Expansionpalooza,  Stanford\'s fate is more linked to the kind of season Michigan has than the number of teams in the Pac-10.

If UM has another crummy season and Stanford has a decent season, the Wolverines could make a serious ($$$$) run at Harbaugh and there\'s no reason to believe Harbaugh wouldn\'t take the job.  All that unpleasantness about low academic standards and Mickey Mouse majors for football players would conveniently disappear down the memory hole.

So even if Stanford would be much better off than when Harbaugh arrived,  the best defense is a good offense,  and we should be sweet-talking the Gods of Woofing to let RichRod and the Wolverines to have lots of success in 2010.

Once a week should be good for now.  If  UM starts going south and loses to Notre Dame,  we will immediately go to twice-a-week.  If they lose to Michigan St.,  we\'ll be at DEFCON 4  and throwing in a phalanx of Thai Bhuddist monks, 24 hrs. per day via satellite.

Think seriously about joining this effort.   Our 17-person class currently has eight 4-star players.  The latest commit, Remound Wright might just force other RBs to look elsewhere although the speculation is he is headed for CB.   Pray for steady momentum in Palo Alto and great improvement in Ann Arbor.

I think Michigan is in pretty good shape next year. Here\'s their schedule:
vs. Connecticut
@ Notre Dame
vs. Massachusetts
vs. Bowling Green
@ Indiana
vs. Michigan State
vs. Iowa
@ Penn State
vs. Illinois
@ Purdue
vs. Wisconsin
@ Ohio State

How many wins does it take for Rich Rod to keep his job? 7? 8? We\'ll say 8 to be safe. There are at least three wins in the nonconference schedule, with only the @ Notre Dame game being remotely tricky. That leaves the Big Ten schedule--shouldn\'t Michigan be able to beat Illinois, Purdue and Indiana? That gets Rich Rod to six wins with nice chances to win against Notre Dame and Michigan State. Those are the critical Rich Rod games--otherwise you\'re hoping for an upset against Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa. Tough sledding, those games.

But what we\'re talking about here - Redrum - 06-18-2010

Is not so much what Michigan\'s W-L record was last year,  but how they floundered into it.  Some real weaknesses revealed.  If they don\'t raise how they play and who is playing doesn\'t move up the talent curve...well, it\'s bring on the Thai Bhuddists and their prayer wheels.

I\'ve got the prayer beads out already.  A lot rests on the maturation of talented-but-erratic Tate Forcier at QB.  I suggest we send some cosmic well-wishes his way, specifically.

Quote:You guys are barking up the wrong tree. For Michigan to win, you need to pray to Satan.

And Satan is not interested in prayers, he wants souls.  Garvin lives in Florida so he\'s out.  I\'m a lawyer, so I can\'t do it.  Who is willing to volunteer?

Cheers,
Pete F.
