Hot start for Stanford, getting out to an 8-3 lead. But as we’ve seen a few times before, the key will be sustaining it over three (or more) sets.
No Oglive as Bob mentioned.

This team is a little like the football team. They can go from really bad to good in a short period of time. Today they were operating on all cylinders for the most part. There were some glitches in the back row which is to be expected. In the way of comparison against ASU in the second set I turned off my TV for ten minutes because it was too painful to watch Baird continually shank balls in serve receive.
We will see next weekend against Oregon if this team is making progress or it's one step forward, one step backward.
Francis looked good hitting the ball. Hambly said what you see is natural talent. Francis hasn't had time yet to develop at the college level.
Miner is a good setter and she holds the offense together. There were a few times where she had to backpedal to the far right side and push the ball to the far left side. It's extremely difficult to control the location of a ball a long distance when moving backwards. Miner's sets were pure nectar.
Nice to see L. Smith get some playing time. I'm sure it makes her feel more like part of the team. When she first came in Arizona scored six straight points but I don't feel any of those points were her fault.
