Categorize me as possibly out-of-date but .... does Stanford accept soccer commits from the Spring of their Freshman year?  Or am I missing something?  Congrats to two high performers either way.

We took my granddaughters ages 5 and 7 to Sunday's game against Colorado so that they could see high level women's soccer for the first time (and hopefully reinforce the thin Stanford fan presence).  Well it did open their eyes to quality soccer, but the most memorable play of the game was by Colorado, and it made the Sports Center Top 10:

Even this lifelong Stanford fan had to stand and applaud.

Final score was 2-2.  And my attempt to enlarge Stanford's Colorado fan base failed after the older granddaughter caught a Buffaloes Soccer scarf from the cheerleaders.

Geaux Cardinal!

Stanford had some real scoring opportunities in OT.  CO was not aggressively defending when Stanford had the ball just outside of the box.  I little more patience by our girls and we could have taken this match. We just couldn't quite close it out.  Pretty frustrating not to get this win, but better to draw than lose.

RE: Stanford Women’s Soccer - Spiny_Norman - 10-24-2021

Stanford swept the Arizona schools at home this weekend, 2-0 over ASU and 4-0 over Arizona. The Cardinal have moved up to 2nd in the conference, one point behind nationally ranked #5 USC and one point ahead of #8 UCLA with 3 matches to play.

Biggest weekend of the season is coming up - at UCLA on Thursday at 7 pm and at USC on Halloween Sunday at 12 noon. Stanford appears to be relatively healthy with Madison Haley returning to the starting lineup. JoJo Harber and Abby Greubel also played today after missing games earlier in the season. I'm hoping that we see Stanford's best play of the season vs. the LA schools. They will need it.

The men tied UCLA 1-1 after regulation.  I watched last 15 minutes or so on TV.  A joke.  The field has been trashed, and you can't play soccer when you kick the ball and it lands and just stops in a big puddle of water.  Thankfully, the powers-that-be decided against playing OT in those conditions.  A wise move.

Don't know if/when that field will recover.  What a mess . . .
