Interesting piece about how the NFL refuses to release the widest-angle video taken of a game, the "all 22 players" view. That is made available only to teams/coaches.

Interesting issues here, bearing on fantasies you might have had about better ways that broadcasters could display game action, as well as how people spout off on play and strategy without seeing the whole situation and context...

I have thought for some time that there was an untapped market that could go to pay-per-view.
Just run the "All 22" angle. Giving the viewer at home the sense that they are at the game. No commercials, no play by play, not even replays, just "All 22 for the entire game". Viewers could get the feel for what it is like at the venue. If you were a HS coach or whatever you could get very helpful instructional tape. If you really were obsessed you could run the "All 22" in a picture in picture with the Standard feed so that you could get replays and commentary.
I would bet the TV manufacturers would love it because that feed would be best with one of those amazing 60+" HDTVs.
When Stanford is on the road I just hate getting replays of obvious plays and then missing the substitution packages. Or getting sent off to Bristol and missing all of the pre-snap reads. Or getting a quick featurette on some player or other, and then missing the next snap completely.

Yep, my own thoughts move toward dot coms that serve various streams of a game through the net, and you can choose the angles, cameras, replays, you want. And customize your bottom of screen down/ytg widget and all that. BUT, this article is a reminder that ... Some of it is not available from the leagues, and some of the fancier ideas might not be a fun idea for the folks that see value in forcing their one expert-driven view of the game.
