TreeCast w/Terry Heffernan & Todd Husak - troyc - 10-28-2021

After observing the bye week, The TreeCast is back!

+ Stanford offensive line coach Terry Heffernan on what's gone right up front, what needs to improve, how we should watch this o-line, and which All-Pro stopped by practice this week to offer up his tricks of the trade

+ former Stanford QB Todd Husak on what he sees in Tanner McKee, how the offense has changed week to week depending upon available personnel, and how he's spending his Saturdays now

+ 3 Things you need to know (including post-Wednesday practice personnel updates), and a slight shuffling of the offensive line

+ is Stanford a better team than its 3-4 record? Or is this team exactly what its record says it is?

Download & enjoy!

Good interview with Coach H. He seems a little more subdued than some of the interviews I saw earlier in his tenure. I wonder if the play of his group is wearing on him.
One suggestion in any future interviews with the Stanford offensive coaches: Why does the running game stink? It is at the bottom of the Pac-12 by any metric and cost Stanford the WSU game when they couldn't run for a first down when needed.

Something has gone right up front?  That's news to me.
Stanford is definitely not a better team than its 3-4 record.  The only game that I can say convincingly we looked good in was against USC.

Thought the team looked good vs currently #7 Oregon - fantastic in the first half.

I need to listen to the podcast to find the mystical elements that have gone right up front.

I will listen tomorrow, but my spider sense is tingling I'm expecting a lot of coach BS-speak because from my perspective very little if anything has gone right with the OL. They were expected to be the bedrock of this team and they have been arguably it's biggest drawback

So who is doing the Stanford radio broadcast of football games this season?  Have they moved Platz from field to color guy, working with Reis?
Or is their an entirely new team?

Is it possible too much candor doesn't sit well with the Powers That Be in the Athletic Department and gets you run from the broadcast?

Ted Robinson, peerless play-by-play dude in the annals of Stanford football, had a go-to expression after a characteristic, face-plant, bone-headed play during the end of the Buddy/Wlat era: "THAT was IN-EX-KEWSIBLE! But by that point, I figure that Ted Leland had checked out so the other Ted was never in jeopardy of his Stanford gig (he had plenty of others). Whatever, Robinson was more far more entertaining that anything on the field. And, Teej, I'll never forget the grilling you gave Leland during our "Come To Jesus Meeting" in November, 2004. That was entertaining, too.
